IIRC, it was you that suggested I move over to PC.

And yes, 2006-2008 were catastrophically bad in regards to your point there.

But 2004 and 2005 were very solid in relation to their era.

I have never used 32-team user control in any franchise I have ever played, with the exception of one franchise in Madden 06 PC where I used 32 custom teams. I have consistently enjoyed the experience while controlling just one team. To that end, though I understand how others might enjoy playing God so-to-speak, I dispute that 32-team control is or has ever been necessary to enjoy franchise.

Given how many complaints I have seen over not only years but decades on this forum about sim stats - I've been around here for a while - I also dispute this. Heck I remember a huge "manifesto" thread of sorts from MaddenMania way back in the PS2 days where one particularly ambitious poster went through all the coach settings, all the teams, all the depth charts, etc. to try and maximize the accuracy of sim stats.

Disagree that it is no longer engrossing, I think people's expectations have increased as the years have gone on and technology has improved. People's expectations by-and-large have also shifted as video games have become more social experiences over the past decade or so. As such, priorities for the development team change to react to those shifts.

Franchise mode is at its core the exact same thing it was in Madden 2001; though it has a lot more functionality and polish - you can play online, the in-game presentation has a ton of polish, the mode is much more approachable for new players - it's still play-multiple-seasons draft-rookies sign-free-agents win-the-Super-Bowl that it always ever was.

Pretty much nailed it. I am 34 years old FWIW. I expect franchise to be what ncaa14 was. Maybe that's my biggest beef is, I have ALWAYS felt that if Madden and ncaa teams combined forces it would be amazing...yet here we are. I miss the coaching carousel big time. The GUI in franchise is pretty bad and clunky. It's also not interactive or engaging at all. Used to be...but not in a while has it been.

Those boys within that community always gave Dave such a hard time.

Dave is a good guy.

The best Madden franchise by far was Madden '08 PC with the use of Madden Editor and MaddenAmp. Not even close.

I wish they'd put this game back on PC. We could do so much with similar hacking methods. The current franchise engine is far easier to manipulate.

lol, damn, I just became one of the people didn't I?
I don't know if it makes it better or worse but i wasn't sure if it was dairy air or something like dairy aire so I googled it prior to posting. Google lied to me!

No defense, I deserve any ridicule, kinda like typing "bone apple tee" I guess

Considering everything is built on PC now, you would think they would.

But considering they know it would get modded to high heaven, perhaps that's working against us.

.. being inside their walls, did they care what Football-Freaks was doing at the time?

I tried to convince a lot of people to move to PC.

The PC version is talked about every year internally, it just keeps not happening. I don't think modding is the concern, it's the return on investment. Sports games don't do particularly well on PC. I wasn't working there during FFs heyday, but Ian and Phil was cool with it. Someone leaked a utility for Head Coach 07 to FF once.

. Where it's built is irrelevant, it wont run on Windows unless it's ported. You adjust data and write code on your PC, yes, but it all has to be exported to the dev kit to run.
