Who's the hell green-lit this game launching without the ability to play with friends online on Day 1?

That's right. No way to play against friends, just strictly matchmaking right now. Also, limited to two players if I read correctly. Both are supposed to come with a post-release patch. No online play on Switch until post-release patch too.
