Like for example I'd like to see some video proof in that bunt cheese thread, cause I'm skeptical of a few of those claims.

I know it is popular but IRL there is no quick counts and perhaps gimmick isn't the correct term but you can't expect something which doesn't exist IRL to be realistic. By definition it isn't realistic because it doesn't exist.

Manage mode on on full counts on the other hand does exist IRL. In terms of game play it is the core game , CPU vs CPU with zero user input. If you ask people who play manage mode they tend to say the same thing - not nearly enough offense. The core game isn't functioning properly while they are fixing other "stuff".

For me - speaking only for myself - they should fix the core game before they fix all the other stuff they have added on and when they do add things they should figure on adding more programmers to fix the problems with the stuff they have added. Currently some modes are being neglected because the programmer is overwhelmed.

Do you have to restart your franchise to use the new patch? I remember in years past you did. This is my first franchise with a PS4 so didn't know if it would be any different.

Remember baseball has gone to a bullpen game, it may be trying to replicate that but just needs tweaking. I have still seen complete games in QC.

There does seem to be a little more leeway with Capital A aces.

However, I was getting thoroughly dominated by Sean Manaea yesterday through 5. 2 hits, 1BB, 9k's 0R and I'm down 2-0. Top of the 6th he gets the first guy out and he's at 70 pitches. Next guy up singles and he is pulled. 75 pitches. On QC. If he's at 100 pitches and that happens I'd be okay with it. Marco Estrada had that against Chris Sale and the BoSox last week, was out after the 6th in a 0-0 game as he had thrown 107 pitches.

I know they will fix it, so I'm not too concerned. I told myself this year, once OSFM comes out I am just starting my franchise and when the patches come out they will fix things. I want to actually make it through a season this year and I need QC and the whole year to do it, so I'm just playing an enjoying.

People who are saying the game is unplayable I just don't get. The Show is amazing every year. Perfect? Nope, but man have we become whiny spoiled brats when it comes to expectations. When I start to get upset about something like this, I think back to my Atari 2600 days and remember being able to run through the back of the screen behind the defense as sack a QB, or the game that passed as baseball for that system (7 year old me had epic battles against the CPU and friends in that game). I remember Baseball Stars and RBI and the list goes on and on. Imagine if that kid got to play this game? He would be in awe!

Ridin I think you meant higher than default (to the right) the more above default 5 (eg 6,7,8) the quicker the hook.

On All-Star, full count games, with my slider set I have been and continue to get fantastic results and realism from MLBTS 17.

Now let's talk some baseball. I had a fantastic game yesterday (post patch) in Boston, the hump game of a 3 game series.

Chris Sale on the bump for the Sox, Newly acquired Jeremy Hellcikson making his second start for my Bronx Bombers.

We are locked in a 0-0 game heading into the 7th inning. Hellickson and Sale both pitching gems. Sale has given up just 2 hits, 1 BB and has fanned 7 while Hellickson has been crafty scattering 6 hits over 7 complete. sale get's out of the 7th easily. But now has a pitch count of 98 heading into the 8th.

Hellickson pitched a great 7th as well but is over 100 pitches and tired.

Sale cruises in the top of the 8th but goes into the dugout with 107 pitches thrown.

Bottom of the 8th I trot Jeremy out to the bump. He fans Bradley Jr and then yields a 1 out single to Mookie Betts.

That's it. I pulled the plug and brought in Bentances. He proceeds to fan the next two and get me out of the jam.

The Red Sox trot out Thronburg for the top of the 9th. I and my stream audience all go....mmmmmmm.

First time in 60 games I actually questioned this move. And you know what. That's baseball. We can question ton's of decisions managers make every game. But this one was a tough one.

Starling Castro cranks a solo shot over RC for a 1-0 lead. And here is the part I absolutely loved, Dan Plesac chimes in that this is the first HR Thornburg has yielded this season.

I send Delin out for a second inning of work as I had that gut feeling he was rolling and he earned his 2nd ssave pitching 1/2 scoreless innings. And there was my decision to against the grain of bringing in Chapman. Sometimes I go with my gut.

Again.....this is baseball. A controversial decision to pull Sale after 8 IP of 2 hit shut out ball.

The papers are going to be buzzing about this.

But then I go around the league and see King Felix tossed a complete game shutout. The Mariners won 5-0.

This game was 0-0 heading into the 9th and maybe John Farrell felt he wanted a fresh Thornburg and sensed Sale was tired?

Who knows?

But again.....that was awesome, story line driven baseball right there in my franchise and one of the millions reasons I love this game.

I do know people that are playing with QC's are having issues. And that is a problem. It is a great feature for those who have more limited time, or prefer to play that way. I hope it can be resolved for you folks. But if all else fails, come back to the full count game and enjoy this type of stuff.

It's really an amazing game this season guys.

And Humanity AI on defense is the real deal. And it is not talked about enough. I saw something yesterday that was awesome.

A dribbler down the first base line but short enough for the pitcher to stab it. Instead of making the throw he dives at my hitter to tag him and misses him!!! Totally cool and looked like a flat out bad human decision. And my Batter avoided the tag to boot.

Guys....play the game. Play it a lot. I am seeing new stuff every game. Trust the game a little more. It is a new pinnacle in the genre.

Mill, prety sure it's been established already that it's a QC issue. If I get time tonight, I will try a couple games without to make sure.

That is the issue though, QC is a godsend for guys like me with two kids in sports, a wife who somehow wants my attention still after all these years and a job that requires me to work some strange hours at times. Not to mention finding time to watch the Blue Jays, playoff hockey, play my ball games as well.

Few things about Quick Counts. First they make me excited to play the game, and I plan on never turning them off. Real counts have always seemed "unrealistic" to me because every batter gets an 0-0 count using my eyes. In real life, each player has their own eyes, and the current game engine doesn't account for that well enough, in my opinion. If a player has bad vision, the ball should be smaller than if the player has good vision. While this might be unrealistic (baseballs don't really shrink or expand), it's actually more realistic because it helps to simulate real life more realistically. If the ball is the size of a pin, you should have a harder time seeing it than if it's the size of a beach ball. Plus, many players refer to the phenomenon of the ball looking huge when they're on fire or when it's a meatball.

Since the game doesn't do that, I feel like quick counts make up for my eyes by adjusting the counts to individual players. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like players with low vision or other ratings are in 0-2 counts more often than players with higher ratings. Or is it purely random?

I bring this up because I frequently see you bring up QC. In theory, I agree with what you're saying. But the game's simulation engine should currently be capable of producing somewhat-realistic - if not more realistic - counts. You make it seem like quick counts force the developers to focus too much on the wrong issues, and maybe that's true.

And I think it would also be helpful to know if for those not pulled mid inning but before an inning starts it would help to know if the pitchers spot is or isn't coming up.

In all the sims where users have pointed out lines with just 5 or 6 innings that very important context is being left out.
