If you could toggle getting into (or at least being notified about) these truly rare Critical Situations somehow, despite being on a different team's "front end," that would add some nice immersion and breadth to the mode.
This is what I was hoping for. The chance to be part of "history" within your franchise could result in some good times. Maybe this is something they can build upon Critical Situations next year.

Great addition IMO. I think this and Ball Physics is just enough to upgrade from 15 to 17.....heck ball physics alone...OHHH and commentary is enough for me.

There is always next year.
Playing with minors in franchise is exactly why I a like the new quick manage approach. I don't like to play as the minor leaguers because I feel if I do too good or too poorly with them it messes with their progression (and of yeah its boring)

However, managing them and developing them is that happy medium of getting to know them, without messing their performance.

In short, IE takes into account real-life stats, while your offline franchise is typically thought of as its own unique universe. Now if there was some type of LIVE Franchise, then yeah. Makes sense for it not to have an effect on an offline mode, IMO.

As a franchise only guy, I must say that I'm being disappointed every year. Playing NBA 2K religiously, I can pretty much tell you what the Show needs, and that is to start taking ideas from 2K. The biggest dissatisfaction with the Show for me is the lack of individual, team and career records. 2K allows me to see champions from all the previous years and who they played against, who won MVP 15 years ago, who scored the most points in Knicks history, what was my team record for all the previous years, I can see awards in player cards, I can get an expansion team, move my team, sell ice cream, create and edit draft classes, on and on and on. The Show has a looooong way to go in the franchise aspect and I really wish they start making some bigger leaps than just adding things to make playing franchise easier for people who won't play it anyways.

Its just hard to understand why it can't be done with the best sports game on the market

+1, the game looks great, but it appears a lot of things are unchanged from 16. I don't have a PS4, I'm waiting for The Show to include rain-outs, rotating schedules, create a team/stadium, relocation, roofs that close during play, and all the things that were mentioned in 12 above. So it may be a while for me.

That is a good point. Why would an Inside Edge for a real game in 2017 affect your player when he is in a franchise game in 2020. He may not be the same player in 3 to 5 years.

A development team that is about three or four times larger?

I'm cool with real progress made every 2 years instead of annually, but I'm tired of hearing about "ball physics" every year...Then again, that's probably because I have no problem at all with the ball physics.

Sticking with '16 this year. Just started year 2021 in my franchise. Still having enough fun to last me through the dark times
Normally I would get what you are saying, but this year looks to be a breakthrough for the ball physics, no year has ever had round bat round ball, which leads to curving line drives, sinking loopers etc I think that alone especially for guys who mostly just care about playing the game, I think its a game changer this year. This will finally make defense fun, exciting and more difficult im hoping.

I'm honestly tired of making excuses for them. It's not about the size of the team as much as getting the "right" things in. Simplifying the franchise mode is the last thing franchise guys wanted. If I ask my wife to go buy bread and milk at the store and she comes home with eggs and ice cream, is it because she didn't have enough money? Or is it because she maybe wasn't listening when I told her I needed bread and milk.
