But when you really think about it, there's no excuse for that, he's a professional, and if he can't "voice act" the right way, he shouldn't be doing a video game, not in this generation of games. It's not hard to do on demand exciting pbp, if I can do it, he as his real life job should be able to do it. Harsh I know, but true. Hopefully on Thursday, we hear some good pbp!
he should take a page out of the pbp guys in NBA, when someone dunks or something they will get really excited about it.

Not true, just your opinion. There are many different factors in play with why the audio is off in the game. To put it on one person's ability to "voice act" is just ridiculous. Watching live action develop in front of you and reading lines from a script in a studio are two completely different things.

Like you said, he's a professional and he has done play-by-play for years. They don't re-record his lines every year so most of the lines that are in the game aren't going to be taken out or redone. There is only so much they can do with commentary at this point aside from ripping everything out and starting from scratch.

One of the big issues is that they should all record in the same studio together which is 100% correct. At this point though, if you that introduce commentary with all of the current commentary it would sound a mess due to different acoustics and such.

The people in charge of the audio are professionals too. They know the commentary is lacking, I'm also sure that we don't come up with any ideas on here that they haven't thought about or discussed already.

They have already said Matt V isn't going anywhere but year after year its the same discussion. At this point it is what it is and until the gut the commentary and start over we will have the same complaints.

With all do respect, I have to disagree with you completely. It is his lack of ability to voice act, not the script. I'm not talking about repeat lines, I'm talking about the lack of excitement in his voice. I can sit here and say the exact lines he does, but make them much more exciting, with different inflections and such. Maybe it's a visual thing? What I mean is, since I can't see that good, and don't know what it's like to do live action, that's the reason I'm able to look at nothing and do exciting pbp, where as he's visual, he knows what it's supposed to look like as he's doing real pbp, so when he's recording, he can't just "do it." It really could be that simple, look at Kevin Harlin, Jon Miller, Garry Thorn, what do they all have in common? good "on demand voice actors." Consiquently, all good in their respective video games.

I would be interested to find out what context the companies provide when they record. Do they provide visuals of actual plays? Do they all record lines together so they feed off of each others energy? There is a lot that we don't know about the process. Maybe it comes down to personality. Being an Orioles fan, I love listening to Gary Thorne. He's not the most accurate PBP guy but he has personality and provides entertainment. Point being, it's possible different personalities translate different results. Matt tends to have a more laid back personality.

But until we know the details of how they do the recording sessions it's impossible to accurately come to a conclusion.

I totally agree with you. Funny but I was watching the 30 for 30 on the XLF a few weeks ago and Matt was doing pbp. Not sure if u know but it was a football league Vince McMahon tried to start up in the early 2000s. Vince actually said that he wasn't entertaining enough/vibrant enough so he replaced him in the prime time game with Jim Ross (long time wwf broadcaster) and but him on the less marquee game.

We'll see how things have improved this week!! We know Matt can do it, it's just getting it out of him for the game we all love.

I agree but he's not himself in the game. He doesn't come across as well with the scripted material.

I watch MLB Central everyday and he is a good time.

You're seriously using anything involving the XFL as an example? Really?
