I may get this if I win a gift card drawing at work or something along those lines but I'm not spending $10 of my earned money for this "sort-of" update.

I'll add:

Yes, It's exciting to see the rosters, schemes and 2017 schedule but the sport is changing so dramatically this year that it's going to feel weird running 2017 cars on Sprint Cup branded tracks with the 2016 points system and rules.

I have hope for the future and enjoy the game for what it is...but the hope is getting slimmer with this odd decision. They're starting to move towards cash-grab territory and that's where I feel like I want to walk away.

Yeah, that's the thing to me. Sure, the new schemes are great. They'd done a fantastic job adding paint schemes even though they've charged for most of them. However, why do I care about the new schemes if I'm still racing for the Sprint Cup, under the old rules? I just... I don't really.

Cash-grab territory is where it feels like it's at for me too. The complaints about the gameplay itself are all over the internet. Everywhere you look really. Yet, nothing was done really aside from one patch that really didn't seem to do anything obviously noticeable. Yet, we got car paint scheme pack after paint scheme pack for $5 a pop, spotter audio for a couple bucks to replace the brutal version they shipped the game with. Now, another $10 for a 2017 season mode, that does nothing more than update drivers and paint schemes and shift a date or two on the schedule.

When the overwhelming majority felt paying $60 (or $69.99 here in Canada) for this game on release was equivalent to getting ripped off because it felt and looked more like a $30 game releasing paid DLC after paid DLC isn't exactly the best strategy IMO to try and win back the fans who have already moved on, nor is it the best strategy to try and keep the current fans you still have happy if they're still playing.

Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know. That's just how I feel with it at this point, and looking at our impressions thread here on this game, or even this thread, or anywhere else online really, it doesn't appear that I'm alone in feeling that.

That point, and that alone has me concerned for the direction of this game from these guys. I love the foundation as bare as it is, I'm not a fan of their decisions post release, I hope they blow us away with the next one when it comes even though I'll be far more cautious in buying.

Let's go ahead and label this a cash grab.

New game in September again...I'll leave my impressions over in the impressions thread as to not veer this topic off course too much.

I put this in the other thread but I'll put it here since this is the 2017 update thread. Can you pick and chose which schemes are used in career mode.

I see above complaints about not having Brads Miller Lite sponsors and Harvicks Busch sponsors. If you do the update do you lose those sponsors or can you just replace them with the beer sponsors?

You lose them if you select 2017 mode. If you stick with 2016 mode then I am assuming they are still there.

Here's a very informative video about the 2017 update:

Looks like a definite pass for me. No Monster branding, no updated NASCAR logo, even some of the updated paint schemes are incorrect with regards to brand placement, not to mention the return of the hideous BRAD car. Why would anyone spend $9.99 on this?

Agreed it's extremely disappointing. And I believe if you check their social media they aren't doing anymore updates for this. I will try to find that link

Has anyone purchased the update and have any feedback? I'm still on the fence.

I cashed in some Microsoft Rewards points so I could get it. Sorry to say it's still not worth it.

I mean the update is what it says it is but it seems rushed. Hendrick cars don't have the new Monster windshield logo (licensing issues, I've been lead to believe) the stupid Brad K car is indeed back and while the rosters are updated, there aren't any PR pics and if you're a Chevy person the biggest piece has to be what I'm calling the shadow Chevy logo. terrible quality control! I'm going to use it for my season/career but I'm glad I didn't pay $10 for it.
