Worst thing is when in for Madden 19, the team will come out and blatantly acknowledge how **** the previous version was.
That's exactly what's been happening from what I've read in the forums; they've had people working on the Frostbite version since before 17 even came out.

I can vouch for Birdman. If he says they've been working on this for 2 years then it's true.

And another misconception I think some people have is that this is a complete rebuild. I am 99.9% sure that is not the case. I think what we will see will still look like Madden and play like Madden. They will just have more freedom in this engine to enhance parts of the game that they really couldn't address to the extent they wanted to with Ignite.

Yep. It can't be helped because a lot of people don't do their homework when it comes to understanding what this kind of switch actually entails, but I'm sure that there will be a lot of people cursing EA and the dev team out when Madden 18 is at its core, for good and bad, still a Madden game.

At least with a new engine, they won't be able to use the "Roster Update" insult, although some probably still will.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I don't claim to know much about Frostbite, but from what I gather it is heavily geared to environmental tech. I can see revamped weather, maybe changing conditions throughout the game, progressive lighting, better looking colors ie uniforms, better grass tech, and maybe cloth physics.

As far as actual gameplay such as movement and AI I'm not sure what the benefits can be. Maybe its easier to program for in that regard allowing for more fluid animations and player interaction.

The one thing I do know for sure is this is a GOOD thing, and Madden fans, make that football fans, should be excited.

Add in some better, more realistic player models, and I'd be cool with that for the first year. Next year, getting rid of all the goofy animations would be a must. Hopefully some of that can be tackled this year, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

So looking forward to seeing what frostbite can do for football....

That's what I was thinking, because as I spent some more time with Fifa 17 last week and this weekend I noticed, the core part of the game, the menus, the front end of the career/franchise mode etc was exactly as it's always been as far as I could tell. Nothing on that end changed. It's not like features of it got left out in the engine switch, they all appear intact. I really didn't notice much difference in the gameplay on the field either, aside from much improved visuals and lighting.

I just don't think this switch will be a major inconvenience at all, but I'm sure every little molehill will get turned into a mountain and blamed on frostbite.
