Not the best that it's "almost the same game," but that nothing will convince you to purchase this installment so long as it maintains its core elements.

I have that kind of thing with Madden. The game can continue to improve, but I'm not looking for a better game with them... simply a different one. 2K used to do something else for me, whether it was the player models, camera, broadcast crew, sprint/charge control system, playcalling style, running/tackling engine, menu system... there is no one specific thing, but a multitude of things that have either been similar in Madden or different enough from what I loved in 2K, that the only thing that will get me to purchase another football game is either if it's not like Madden or if it is like 2K.

It's a shame as well, because I believe Madden is an objectively great game these days... but it's either too stale or too much that is not my taste, and only changing it can sway my decision, not so much improving it.

I dont expect a different looking game every year, it would be stupid to do so, it's the same developer after all, but when so many things go largely untouched for year after year such as commentary, franchise, even the same signature music for like, ever, then you start to compare it to the strides made in other areas of sports gaming such as NBA 2K, FIFA, Madden etc then yes, then it starts to make you wonder why you keep coming back and why '16 feels like '15 feels like '14 feels like '13 etc. I repeat, it will be a great game, but times change and its simply my opinion that SCEA doesnt move fast enough with them. I used to pre-order this game months in advance, look forward to it like nothing else all year, take a whole week off work just to play it on release week...those days are long gone. This is without doubt the first year ill almost certainly not be buying and i think its telling the posts mirroring my feelings seem to have garnered as many likes if not more generally than those saying otherwise - i think this worm has finally turned. Dont ever take your loyal customers for granted in business - and i think SCEA is in danger of doing just that. Shame indeed.

I've kind of just accepted the pace at which they work. For me their graphical department moves inherently too slow for my tastes. Which is fine I guess, but it leaves me with the feeling that no one even really cares about the graphics and animations to the point they put in some major work to make it better.

People have been talking about models, fields, animations, franchise, and other things now for literally years. We've heard devs chime in too. But from 14-17 I just don't see it. I don't see this game changing to become a photo realistic sim or even close to getting there. When I boot up that trailer it looks almost exactly like 14 or 15 to me from a perspective of: hey I just entered the stadium, what beautiful details all around look at how well kept the field is, look at how nice and lively everything looks.

I just don't see that with this game anymore. So I will wait. One day it will be something I want to get into again.

I totally understand from someone like you that does a lot of work on this yourself with no pay that you need to skip a year. I would too. There is no point right now in doing all that work just for another year of baseball.

I will still look forward to the new details and reveals they have going for sure.

I feel the exact same way, it's come to the point where i'm not even really disappointed anymore. I just expect the player models and other small details that bother me to go relatively unchanged. That way when these things are improved upon, and not just by little increments, i'll be pleasantly surprised, which beats being disappointed every year.

This post is completely preposterous. The Pro is a significantly more powerful machine capable of many things including supersampling and 4K native in some games. Nevermind the games that are doing better, AA, AF, Shadows, framerate, SSAO, and effects.

You are talking a GPU that is twice as powerful and a CPU that totally sucked before with a decent 1.3x upgrade. Nevermind all the little architectural changes they made, and the extra 1GB of DDR3 RAM they put it to free more of that up.

The Pro is in fact about as much an upgrade as you could ever have in a mid gen refresh while maintaining compatibility, and the only reason they could do it was because of the process node shrink from AMD.

Barely noticeable lol? Ratchet and Clank went from a jaggy mess of a game to looking like Pixar circa 1999. The supersampling and/or AA they have going their is actually amazing to look at. The game looks like CG at times. I stopped playing it on my OG PS4 and waited months to see what they did to it with the Pro. And I was not disappointed. In fact, they went beyond my hopes and dreams. To think Insomniac is now making Spiderman is great.

And this is not a one case scenario. BF1 has a MUCH better framerate with better details and AA all around. Tomb Raider looks a ton better. Many games look and run better. I don't know what you expect from the Pro but it does exactly what it needs to do.

For sure, and I know they have made some really decent improvements to the LEDs and jumbos and scoreboards and stuff like that. Some texture work has been improved. But a lot of it has remained almost untouched or just at a level that makes you wonder what is going on.
