Other than gameplay, which is big I might add, FIFA should beat PES in every debate possible until Konami finally figures it out that you need more than gameplay to make an overall great game.

Fifa Career mode is bad, unrealistic, and needs an overhaul.

After purchasing FIFA for 5 years straight in its first week of release, I've decided not to pick up FIFA 17 and probably won't be purchasing it at all. The only mode I play in FIFA is career mode and while I gotta admit that I've been massively disappointed with FIFAs CM offering for years now, I've still felt the urge to scratch that FIFA-itch every year. But not this year as I simply refuse to shell out 60 dollars for what I feel is essentially FIFA 16 with a roster update, a rubbish new league, and some slightly improved graphics. Apparently, EA thought they could appease CM fans with a broken and only partially implemented team objectives feature and basically nothing else. I refuse to support a company which seemingly has such little regard for their non-FUT playing customers.

While I really like the gameplay in the PES demo, I know from previous experience that their Master League is about as exciting as watching paint dry and nothing I've read about PES 17 makes me think that this has changed.

So in conclusion: I think I'll just stick with Football Manager for my digital footie needs this year and hope that maybe FIFA 18s CM will bring something worth while to the table ... even though I know that it probably won't!

"Ultimately, it would appear this year's primary development focus centered around the implementation of the Frostbite engine (and subsequently, The Journey), with career mode taking somewhat of a backseat."

That's FIFA and Career Mode's relationship every year.
