You know what... I may be that guy to try to score 100 with curry on this thing. I mean... why not? Hopefully it will expose how arcadey this game is.

100 pts in 5 minute quarters would be hilarious.

All I'm doing is saying your certain idea about what is sim and what can make an esport is just your opinion and nothing more or less. It isn't the strict and only option.

if 2k wants to be taken seriously as esport..they need to get some dedicated servers. there is so much lag online you have to practically guess at what someone is going to do, because by the time they make their move, you are already reacting to the last one. yes, there are bugs, glitches, cheaters. but the worst is the servers. I love the game, I really do. but online is a mess due to the delayed reactions.

They need to set up a mkde that mimics a MOBA. In the way you start with a base character at start, and as you play you earn XP and lvl up along the way having a fully powerful character for end of game. Could be based on teammate grade, give character specific abilities that can also be lvled up like the badges.

The true professional eSports games are MOBAs and they aren't based on 'stick 'skills'. Yes you do have to have quick hand eye and know how to string together abilities...butbits more about strategy, using your brain. Knowing how to navigate the map and not get ambushed. Having class role down and know how to use specifics in match. Putting together a solid deck of abilities to play to your strengths. That's that real ****. 2k does not do this. You literally don't need to know 2/3rd of the options in the game, and can still be successful.

And get this...

the top professional eSport MOBA games...are completely...free. Most with extremely limited pay-to-win micro transactions, limited to all cosmetic accessories.

I asked the ESL if putting this tournament on Pro difficulty was just an oversight and if they would consider changing the difficulty setting to Superstar or Hall of Fame and here was their response:

However, as I said earlier, we will take this feedback into consideration when the time comes to reevaluate the rules.
I would argue that considering the type of people who usually sign up for gaming tournaments (hardcore fans), the lower difficulty setting is actually discouraging more players from joining than it is encouraging.

Yeah I'm not participating in this lol.

I agree, I don't think this is the way to build a scene for competitive 2k. Having a noob friendly environment in a major tourney isn't gonna build interest for the more hardcore tournaments. They'd just have to continue the easy difficulty tournaments and build the competetive scene there (which is a terrible idea lol).

Maybe they don't actually care about 2k itself? Maybe they rather just introduce more people to esports via a very popular game?

It's sucks that pro am is the only mode that gets a serious competition. I'd expect 1 v 1 to be a thing before 5 on 5.

Btw - did you mention that superstar is the default for 1 v 1?
