Hands-On with F1 2016 (TSA)

TSA has posted their F1 2016 hands-on preview, going over the new and improved career mode. Watch the video here and read the article here.

Quote:
What happens on the track is obviously the most important thing here, and Codemasters are broadening the appeal of things outside of the races. If playing with a full race weekend, practice sessions have a lot more meaning, as you can focus on track acclimatisation, having you pass through gates on track that help you learn corners and speed better than the racing line that you can have beamed onto the track, learn how best to manage tyres in a stint – tyre wear and lap time data can be viewed and used to come up with different race strategies – and, of course, try to find your absolute pace for qualifying. Performing these tasks and doing well let’s you spend points earned to upgrade certain parts of your car that you feel need improvement.
Platform: PC / PS4 / Xbox One

Thanks Steve, that was a great video. I'm pretty jazzed about that gate mechanic for working on learning a track, and career mode is looking pretty good from what is shown and talked about here.

I really like how there are so many new ways to make practice a bit more interesting. I love how your work on tyre management will translate into your race strategy. It always bugged me how tyre life would never be relative to your practice runs.

Looks good. Surprised to hear the guy complain about the graphics. I've always thought this was one darn good looking racing game. It does lag behind Forza slightly, so that point holds true, but to say they're disappointing in F1, I'm surprised. Always thought the series looked fantastic.

Really looking forward to picking this up.

I agree about the graphics. If that's the one complaint, I'll be a happy guy for sure because the game looks great! I'm pretty excited that I passed on F1 2015 and waited for this one instead.

It looks like F1 2016 is up for digital pre order on the PS store and is on sale (save 10%) for PS plus members.

The pre-order discount looks like its for North America only, all the Europeans I race against say its not available to them. This is a bit of a makeup for the Beta being only available in Europe on the PS4 side I guess.

Interesting and good point, as I was disappointed at not having any chance at the Beta.
