Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?

haha, they should have just kept Live 10 engine. Things were going well, 10 showed potential. It could do things 2k couldn't, even if it looked much more wonky.

But they blew it up. And blew it forever, I think. It's amazing to think that we might never see another basketball game other than 2k.

Edit: I remember back in the day having like 4 bball games. Sometimes you just don't wanna play a certain game... you'll even fire up give and go or whatever.

Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?

NBA live formula of nickeling and dimeing the consumer has finally ran its course. Its seems to be the result of all easports games like madden, fifa to put minimal effort yearly and hope consumers don't notice. This method can only work if your the top dog in town since NBA live wasn't they failed because of it. The removing features that were in past NBA live games than adding the same features in future years solidified this minimal effort yearly approach. The move to mobile is just another way of saying screw the consumer and your high expectations where doing it our way with minimal effort we can one day succeed and scam the next generation of gamers. Just by rehashing older features, ignoring Dynasty, ignoring gameplay, ignoring animation quality we can do just that.

i always found that funny; there used to be at least 4 games each for mlb, nba, and nfl yearly... now we're down to one for each sport. i loved having all those options back in the day.

People always seem to forget Mike Wang was the head of Live 10.

EA didn't like the sim direction he was taking the series, so he took his skills right back to 2K and it's been a wrap ever since.

Savage realkeeping about EA management & decision-making from Mike Wang here: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=386477.

Given what happened to NBA Elite 11, the cancellations of NBA Live 12 & 13, the poor sales of NBA Live 16 (which has great modes and is fun to play), I do worry NBA Live 17's delayed release is repeating itself.

Some folks in "The Live Community" are eternal optimists, and I keep hoping they're correct this time. But if I were to look at The Live Franchise's performance since 2008 from the viewpoint of an investor, I haven't seen little yet to make me optimistic about NBA Live's post-16 direction. I'd like to see them explain the mobile-first strategy more clearly.

Re: What's to Become of NBA Live?

the problem with live,

The ONLY people they listen to the guys who say EVERYTHING IS FINE, IGNORE THE HATERS.

Like so many people on here and twitter have posted things Directly to EA to help the game get better and the game continues to Ignore the Fans who want improvement. and cater to those who swear nothing is wrong and we are misunderstanding the game.

LOOK AT MY LUT POST. TWO YEARS IN A ROW WE GOT LEFT WITH A HALF ASSED VERION OF UT. THEY LITERALLY RERELEASED THE SAME GAME FROM LAST YEAR IN THIS DEPT, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE MASTERS Which to me was a mess. the mode can still be fun (more so then Myteam) but At the current moment Myteam is more playable then LUT. since EA is done with the mode. and the lack of a Real H2H ranking system really hurts it>_>

there are more problems. WAY MORE. i can point out. but if you wana talk about listening to the fanbase to me it was easier to point this mode out. if you ask me. LAST YEAR LUT might have actually been better than this years.

I didn't forget.

I dunno why he really left. I actually think it was just a move to get a better spot/money with 2k, he is obviously a big impact person because he made Live really good. I think Live (even w/ weird graphics) had a potential to be more sim than 2k because it wasn't as animation tied.

But you're right... it's a wrap.
