The rationale of how/why players are rated how they are is well documented in both threads.

A followup question that I also asked in the OSFM 3.0 thread: how, precisely, is the off-season different if you just a single team method with these rosters, specifically re: player re-signings and FA?

And lastly, do the re-rates effect team roster management decisions, like trades, etc?

I've seen lots of conflicting impressions and am trying to cut through the hyperbole to the truth so I can figure out what's what.

Thanks!
Best advice I can give you is to try everything out for yourself to cut through any conflicting opinions. No substitute for seeing for yourself tbh. But to address your questions...

1. Whether something "gels well" or not is more of a subjective issue as to what you consider "well" but I can say that the league does not get taken over by drafted players before their time has come. Certainly you may see a new Mike Trout pop up or some real prodigy here or there, but the starting players in this roster are predominant for many years.

2. No real comment on this; this roster wasn't intended for single team control. None of us have tested it for that, although I put most everything on auto when I do 30-team control sims. All I know is that FA's that you think should be signed are signed and that real contracts are fine.

3. Of course. Re-rates will make certain players more valuable or re-order depth charts, which feeds into stat-based progression. So, re-rates have a large impact on the AI. I generally play with trades off and make them myself because the trade AI is fairly weak to begin with, no matter the roster being used. Hence, why we both frequent the trade discussion thread.

Sorry man, but you sort of walked right into a trap I was setting, lol.

We were just discussing how frustrating it is to explain how players are rated every 3 or 4 posts and then the post after that one was when you ask how the ratings were determined. I'll just say that, it's based on Steamer Projections and we are not changing anyone on request. For better or worse. Luckily, you guys should have edit functions on your games/PS4s and aren't trapped into this roster as is.

Furthermore, Estrada is sort of a weird case where the projections hate him, and have for some time, but he seems to have some mojo where he has avoided regression to his peripherals so far.

Also, Willard doesn't have anything to do with the ratings--if he did the Jays would all be 99 (sorry, Willard lol).

When I was dropping players to get each roster to 25 I noticed some of the teams minor league line-ups would appear invalid. I would then have to have the CPU fix the team which obviously screws up the line-ups. Is there any way to avoid having that happen?

No idea. The roster we uploaded doesn't have this issue. If you are moving guys from different levels, then things could go sideways. Best thing is not to touch it (you can just leave some minor league rosters with 22, 23, 24 players) and only adjust who's on the 40-man, not who's at what level (unless you are prepared to fix issues that crop up...too few pitchers or whatever..after you make adjustments).

Agree about Lindor. Should be A potential. One of the brightest young stars in the game.

Just my opinion though.

Given that all players are rated using the same system I believe that complaints should be forwarded to: http://steamerprojections.com/blog/about-2/ from what I've seen so far people only seem to be at odds with 1 or 2 players. If there were issues with say 20 or more I could see questioning the system, with 1 or 2 it seems, to me, it may be a personal bias.
