I agree with you that Czar, also with his background in the sim community and having stood outside before is a great situation for both 2k and the users. I see Czar taking great interest in changing or wanting to change fundamental flaws. He really likes basketball fundamentally, at least that is the impression I have gotten from the simnation podcast, and he writes things down and asks for what exactly needs to be changed. That is the right approach.

HOWEVER, and this will continue my previous train of thought from before the above quote and also be aimed at the above quote, I also think that the interest that we and the Czar have, namely that of making and playing a great "realistic" basketball game (whatever that might mean or if that is even possible and how much, at all) cannot as much as we want be met with 2k's business objectives. I understand the incentives of running a business (as I run my own business) and that it's not all jolly good and fun, but that the bottom line has to be met first and foremost in order to keep it running and only thereby opening up the opportunity of being able to "afford" to make a game that appeals to both the casual p(l)ayer and the sim p(l)ayer. You HAVE TO cater to the crowd that keeps your game being sold. The age and intentions range of the p(l)ayers is so wide, that 2k is obviously going to try to cover their cost easiest and also try to win more customers. So I understand both sides' objecitives and they are all well intended, but they there are priorities that have to be met and 2k is acting accordingly. I have seen 2k enrich the game with multiple modes, which is great for the fan who likes basketball more than just on a superficial level, and deeper, actual offensive schemes being implemented etc. but which is making the game look really great. That is where I agree with the above quote. I disagree with it though on that part that it IS NOT a great game when it comes down to what matters most, namely GAMEPLAY. When ratings don't SEEMS to matter and it SEEMS the game can be literally, intentionally broken (#breakthegame), pr with speed boosts, or speeding against a non-existent, parting-the-red-sea-like transition D and offensive players slithering around great defenders and players dunking unimpeded or players constantly blocking players without fouls being called, then the gameplay is just not great, but only LOOKS GREAT. The frame suggest greatness, but the the content is not holding up to what it suggests. The game as a whole has developed and gotten better, but 2k is still and I guess will, with regards to meeting their business objectives, which are forcing their hands, as well as their human reasoning ("why not make more money, if people buy the game and play it like a slot machine, even though they are getting "cheated"", "who are we to hold us to higher standards in a cutthroat business world where making money is the only, and rightfully so , intent") be going in the direction of watering down the game play. The evidence is on the table as people can literally score within 2-3 seconds after a made basket by either turboing down the court with a Westbrook like player and dunk on anyone, as the D is terrible, or they can pull up with Curry from half court and score. None of the deeper stuff that the frame gives and suggests matter, no freelance or plays or the like, when the game is coming down to 2 buttons being pushed, that a lab rat can do, and the game play being literally a modern version of NBA JAM.

2k needs to make a decision. You cannot have sim game play with NBA Jam like elements mixed in, with the NBA Jam parts overriding the sim parts. That's the problem with the game that 2k has no interest in solving their ACTIONS suggest, not their words, their ACTIONS, and they speak louder than words, as is well known.

I agree 100% with everything you said.
However I believe that 2k could de-couple the game to appear to more casuals and sim players. So different set of sliders on play now online and park. Fully restricted RTTP ladders in Superstar sim for Myteam, vs All allowed god cards in a seperate ladder.

I firmly believe that decoupling can take place

A different slider set would be really nice. The game is just more fun/ deeper with more realistic sliders. I mean, why do people even watch to play the game in the first place? To try to emulate the game as they see it. Apparently, people have problems seeing or they have forgotten what they saw on TV.

I don't understand why 2K would not release this patch for the PC version. Every other patch was released on par with the consoles, but since the curry range gets a boost we can't get it! Come on 2K!

This...

Please let's all be realistic. To keep sin and make things look pretty and avoid the jerky movement 2k made things slow and beautiful. But the dunks, player movement can be extremely slow. Many perimeter players can make a quick shake and move to the hoop in a heartbeat. But on 2k movement is too slow. They want to avoid cheese so they take out some things.

2k is phenomenal. Great series and no doubt they have the best sports games of all time lately right there with the show.

But I think they need to work on a way to speed things up without sacrificing quality

Anyone who wastes their life watching some annoying dude scream over the top of footage of a video game has some serious social problems IMO

I just don't get how people can "enjoy" pressing two buttons and call what they "do" playing basketball? I mean most of the players cannot still be stuck in the 90's where on the game boy or NES you only had to press 2 buttons to win the game, it just cannot be possible!
