Playing my first game and I'm really disappointed with the new baserunning indicator. The thing is a monstrosity and an eyesore for me.

I have one complaint so far.

I've always used Auto baserunning because I hate losing games over a mistake when button-mashing to advance or hold a particular runner.

In the past, I could still manually take my own leads and steal. This year, I can still do that BUT it then appears to switch to manual baserunning. What this means is that if I manually call for a runner to steal and I execute a hit-and-run I now have to tell the runners whether to advance or hold if I get a hit.

It may seem small but to someone who enjoys Auto Baserunning, it makes me choose between becoming a (full or part-time) Manual Baserunning guy or never getting involved in base stealing decisions.

I need to test it some more to be 100% sure that this is what is happening but if I'm wrong then the CPU is doing a terrible job of advancing runners which is another problem (and if it's not fixed I'm back to being forced to use Manual Baserunning).

Other than that, I'm loving the game and I'm looking forward to things being fleshed out further with patches (mostly to carry over my Franchise that I started on 14).

Just played a game in Oakland.

The Good:

I notice that the batters box gets dirty now.

There was a cutscene of the bay area bridge. I assume every stadium has a different cutscene. Cool!

The new home run stat overlay with the info is much better.

I got a hit with Cron(slow) and a splitscreen appeared showing the player on the left and the manager on the right asking me if I want to pitch run. Cool!

They said some things about the umpires and their names.

Coming over from PS3, this game does look better and I am loving the upgrade.(Even though it's not a huge leap. Come on, PS3 The Show looks great)

The Bad:

Frame rate definitely was all over the place. Started to get distracting by the 6th inning.

I could not get my swing info. This had to be a glitch because it worked fine in the first game I played. I didn't mess with any of the options and even went into the gameplay menu and turned it off, saved and then turned it back on and it still wouldn't show. Only thing I was able to see was where the balls where thrown. The only way I could access it while pitching was to push the right stick in. Again, hopefully this is just some random glitch.

Umpire still does not clean homeplate that I've noticed and grounds crew(still only at the end for some reason) do nothing. It's just a canned motion. The dirt doesn't even react. They might as well not have a rake and just mime it.

An Oakland pitcher made a throwing error trying to get out a runner going to first and the ball sailed over the 1st basemans head into the Angels bullpen and the players did not react to it at all. Reddick even clipped through them to get the ball and throw it back to the infield.

The players eyes are just creepy. Once a pitcher looked over to the runner at 2nd and his neck looked like E.T.

I see a lot of the same animations that I've been seeing in the PS3 versions for years. The end game ones for instance.

I agree the hair looks bad but that's just nitpicking.

Eric Carrots only tells me about Kole Calhoun winning a gold glove when they show the defense of the Angels. I've heard him say his 3 times now so I'm not sure if he will ever talk about Simmons being as good or better than Ozzie Smith or all the amazing catches Trout makes but I will listen for it.

Did they take out warm up your SP? I only see the option for RP. I really hope they didn't get rid of being able to get a feel for your SP before the game starts.

I still am not connected to the servers so I am hoping they are just down right now. I can see mlb news and twitter.

Gonna play another game or 2 before bed so I will post anymore impressions I have. BTW, I have never heard any of the songs in the soundtrack but I am loving them!

Haven't had much time to play. Of course MLB would come out the week I have to work 80 hours.

I usually start at the easiest difficulty in RTTS and then work my way up to where it's challenging but not frustrating. This year the lowest difficulty is way way easier than previous years. In 20 games my contact hitting CF had 60 homeruns. I don't know how it will translate to the harder difficulties, I'll have to see how it is when I get more time to play.

Its the servers, they are being hammerd. online modes will take longer
