I think he threw two punches and my stamina was so drained I couldn't get to guard. I have no issue with him dominating me on the ground as I'm still learning but for him to not turn any of this into offense I think speaks to how the ground game feels to me. It's too hyperactive to mount any kind of strategy imo.
So you are seeing 2 things here:

1) This is an AI issue I've identified and reported to the devs. The CPU grappling AI isnt aggressive enough on the ground and is more interested in advancing position than landing strikes or subs. Ive seen the CPU get me in Crucifix and instead of landing strikes and trying to finish me, its decided to transition into north/south position. I'm hoping the devs will tweak this before release.

2) You arent doing anything to get grappling advantage which based on my experience means more than stamina. You didnt give me enough information but I'm assuming that you werent throwing any punches to gain GA. You werent blocking his transitions to gain GA.

Without GA, the CPU should be able to dominate you. So if you are finding that the CPU or a person is very successful in transitioning, instead of trying to force a transition....you should do things that will give you GA and make it easier to transition and eventually get up.

Offline against AI I can, but the lag is just enough online that the denial window is basically nonexistent.
On this note, I would like to see much less fighters have the HG -> Full Mount move.

Appreciate the feedback. As I said I still find the game really fun and I'm looking forward to the final build.

This.

How often do fighters get mount? Not every fight. People seem to reach mount pretty easily in this game.

How often do you see a fighter get mount multiple times? Almost never unless it's Maia or that caliber of grappler.

With that being said, the ground game has definitely improved. I don't know if there are things developers can do this late in the dev cycle to increase realism. I'd rather not see a guy in full mount get swept. It should be a feat to get to mount... It should also be a feat to get out of mount.

Just my two cents.

I know it sounds negative, and I don't mean to be. The team has put in a ton of hard work, and it has paid off. The improvements they've made just make me want more.

Ok so I was doubting everyone when they were saying how much they disliked the ground game. I spent around a hour doing the practice CPU ground stuff and then now around 20 matches online and I must admit, I'm not really feeling it either. I attempt to block a pass and it does nothing, I understand how the system works but its as if there is a delay or something. Even with Maia, its very VERY inconsistent with being able to control anyone. I will attempt to get better but the ground just feels off

I also have ZERO clue how to stop anyone in the clinch. I see them passing to my right arm, I press R2 and RS to the right and it does NOTHING to stop the pass. Its all just very inconsistent or its the beta not registering correctly. I'm unsure what I'm doing wrong.

Its as if my button presses do nothing

Yeah this is my exact problem to a tee. I've now put in the practice. A LOT of practice and I cant block passes. Same problems you describe with the clinch. Maybe the answer is that I flat out just suck at the ground and clinch game and if that's the case then so be it haha. But i'm definitely experiencing the same frustrations that you are.

My other issue and one that I think holbert mentioned was that when in practice mode/playing offline, the computer makes no attempt at ground and pound. They just endlessly change positions and transitions until i'm finally able to get back up.

Aside from that, I think the game is awesome and has been a ton of fun to play. I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the roster.

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Beta Available, Post Your Impressions Here

I'm still not spectacular on the ground, but I'm getting better. When I first got the game, I wasn't ever able to get any decent GNP on my opponents. I'm also getting better at blocking transitions. We're all new to this, so it'll take time. Just keep getting that training in, gents. If you want some ground practice, Aholbert will definitely take your *** down lol.

Ratings make more of a difference than they did in the last game too. It can be super difficult on the ground for me when using a guy like Meins or Means. That in addition to stamina and how your opponent is transitioning all seems to come into play imo.
