Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Beta Impressions

So I have been playing the Beta all day. I actually joined this board purely to get other people's feedback on it.

- I think they took a step back, made blocking way more difficult than it needs to be by making it 1 button to block upper body shots and 1 button for lower body shots. Blocking is hard enough as it is, did it really need to be more complicated.

- I am not thrilled with the complete overhaul of the move list, when I am playing and can't figure out half a move list, there is a problem.

-The ground game I use to feel has some skill to it, needing to read the other person know when to do what. Now it takes no true skill, here hold the button in this direction for this long and it will do it for you. Oh, you aren't smart enough to know which way to move the stick will do what? Well we are going to tell you which way to move it and what it does when you move it that way.

There are some improvements, and yeah I am going to buy the game probably anyway. But I am really disappointed in this game. I won my last 25 fights in a row, so I am not just complaining because I am losing. I probably have gone something like 40/50-6 on the day.

I'd lose to her very time too. Once I saw this, it would be over fast:

Holy.... I got on the game having played too many UFC 1 fights to be proud of and went 1-6. I love complex controls though. Right now I have a light grasp on every aspect, but not enough. I feel like my skill level will grow as I keep on playing, wich is a good thing imo.

- I think you are in the extreme minority when it comes to your opinion on blocking. If anything, most people found blocking to be easy in UFC 1. There was no strategy to defense. Most people (and the CPU) would just hold the block button until they thought it was safe to strike back. With UFC 2, if you telegraph your block, you are going to get hit. You actually have to think "where is this person going to strike" instead of blindly pressing a button.

- I dont understand the issue with the move list. Are you upset because fighters have different movesets this year? Or because the striking controls are slightly different? I'm unhappy with the movesets for opposite reasons, I dont think they changed them enough. There are still instances where guys have moves they shouldnt have (Gastellum has a superman punch off the cage).

- The old was was turn based and it was unrealistic and bad in my opinion. You go....then I go. This ground game is infinetly more realistic. I spent the entire day dominating people on the ground...why? Because I've played the game enough where I dont need the hud for most moves. The HUD is actually a disadvantage if you are going against someone who knows the moves because they can out speed you to the next transition.

High/low blocking takes a lot of getting used to but is the best addition to the game as far as I'm concerned. I hated one button blocking; it made it way too easy to block.

This game is extremely different than 1. Fights move differently, punches connect and do damage differently, the ground is different. A few people are freaking out but I think once everyone gets used to the changes the feedback will be a lot better. It's far from perfect but I won't be going back to 1 anymore.

i go look at the stats of the fight and all the takedowns was not recorded 0/8

so i do another fight and every takedown i get it does not add it so if in the fight i get 6 takedowns the stats will say 0/6 as if i dint get any

so point is takedowns are not getting counted right
I'm running into the same issue. Are you on PS4 or Xbox?

Everything seems improved although making the ground and sub game easier has made the grappling game a little bit harder in my opinion; i'm not 100% sure what i'm doing still with it.

The huge shots that used to just stun you in the first version have to be avoided now or you are on your back, you simply can't take a massive kick across the face anymore or you're going to be on your back trying to recover.

Ultimate Fighter is probably going to be the most played mode this year I'd think, create a whole team of fighters and try and power up all their attributes. I'll just say it's a good time fighting other created female fighters online
