Well I think these comments hit the nail on the head for the most part. I'm a diehard hockey fan and to me this game is terrible. The graphics are the only shiny spot. Horrible AI that makes it unplayable, worst career mode of any sports game that i'm aware of, they made online play like beer league this year, least player separation of any sports game, and lack of support(roster updates etc.). Not to mention the gameplay is almost identical to all last gen NHL games. I'm also not one to complain about games for the sake of complain as I really enjoy FIFA/PES/Madden.

I can understand people enjoying this game if hockey is not their thing, but for the true fans this game is a joke. However, I have always thought that hockey would be the hardest sport to replicate for a video game.

Unfortunately, I find this to be true to an extent as well. Hockey is by far the sport I have the most hands on experience with (I play minimum 2 times per week, and have played for 20+ years) at varying levels of competition, so I feel I have a pretty damn solid understanding of the actual game itself, and subsequently usually feel the most let down by the NHL series.

Baseball, my experience with the game is similar to hockey, however at this point it's safe to consider The Show an anomaly in sports games.

I'm a big fan of watching NFL, but I've never played the game at all and typically seem to be able to enjoy Madden more than most folks around here.

Soccer? I played like 3 seasons when I was a child, I know next to nothing about it, yet have a blast playing FIFA/PES.

I love football and basketball and those are the games I have a hard time enjoying bc of it, for example in madden there aren't real linebacker positions like sam, will, and Mike and it pisses me off bc it's hard to make an actual scheme without those designations.

I will commend EA on their effort as this is the most solid NHL they've put out in a decade. If you're a casual fan this game is a must buy. If you know nothing about the sport, it is a must try. If you're looking to replicate the Devils trap, Red Wings possession game, or get accurate Corsi stats, the game is not for you.

This is a great write up and shows the other side. I think EA tries to find a balance to keep all happy and as a result misses things that only us long time hockey fans notice. I just wish EA would spend extra time on their difficulty settings and sliders like MLB the Show. You can make that game play like an arcade game, somewhere in between, or a true baseball sim. That game nails every aspect......then again I'm not a huge baseball fan so perhaps I'm proving my point.....Hmmmm
Definitely spot on! My least favorite is NBA and I have a blast with NBA 2k and NBA Live. Makes a lot of sense for sure.
