Any plans to allow 18 hole matches in online ranked? I'm not a huge fan of this 9 hole format. I want to play a full round of golf... People quit more often in my experience because they have no time to make a come back if they start bad. 👎

If you're curious about the gameplay styles those numbers look like this:
70% - Arcade
10% - Tour
10% - Classic
10% - Custom (of these each swing mechanic is used fairly evenly)

Classic style was actually the highest used after the first 2 weeks of the game being out but my guess is it was mostly casuals who fell off after a short period of time. As usual, the arcade way of playing the game is far and away the most popular. This is the case every year. I know that may be hard for many of the sim audience to hear, but it is the reality. But I also think many arcade users are playing in a sim fashion. By that I mean, even with all the aids you get in arcade, they still shoot realistic golf scores. The average 18 hole score in arcade right now comes in around -5. With as many users there are that shoot -18 or better, there has to be a lot of even par rounds to get that kind of average.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling on here. Figured this insight would be useful info.
Good info and thanks for sharing! How much do you think that Paracel Storm being a par 3 course boosts is played number? I would have to think that is a huge driving force.

Wow... reading this sure explains a lot to me. It's hard to swallow the fact that this game is that heavily favored by the arcade style players who would rather play fantasy courses than real ones, but it makes it easier for me to understand the current state of the game... only 10% play Custom Tour? Dayum... (sigh).

Thanks Justin. It helps to understand the decisions being made for the game moving forward. With your comments on Career Mode, it helps to understand that a large number of users play offline which I think has been the case for years. I play 99% Career mode for two reasons. 1) I am still building up my CAG and 2) I can play TOUR Custom Advanced swing in Career, but not Online Tournaments. With the high numbers of users playing Career Mode, can we expect to hear some investment in this mode moving forward?

Also, I think it would be really cool for the online tournaments to have a "Career "Mode" feel to it. I am sure this would take significant investment in resources and would be 2nd on my list to bring forward.

Thanks again for sharing the information. Very enlightening.

It's not as surprising. I always like to compare with NBA 2K and in last year's 2K game, many players complained about the shooting being too hard. So they made it super easy and dudes we're hitting three pointers like free throws.

The complaints stopped because the players got what they wished. The easiest three point shooting ever. And this is one of the top games of the year every year so it's not just EA golf games.

I remember one game where a guy made about 10 threes in a row.

Not to mention that in 2K16, you can buy card packs that give you special abilities when playing online like "perfect shooter" for example which all of sudden transforms you into an amazing shooter.

The cards are almost like the pin system the Tiger games used the last few years.

So it's not just EA golf with arcade preferred play.

Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Title Update 1.04 Available Now on PS4 and Xbox One

I gave up with this game a while ago. It was obvious that the simplistic arcade style was the most popular. Sadly people want a brainless game without having to think. The treasure island course is ludicrous. How many proper courses are there? Is it 10?
I paid £55 for this game on psn and what a waste of money. Given the numbers of people playing the brain dead option and the lack of proper course etc I was entirely correct in dumping this game. If I had bough the disc version it be worthless to sell as it achieved coaster status within weeks of release.
I love golf games but I won't play this moronic drivel.

To be fair, the fantasy courses do make you think. It's just not the type of strategy that you're thinking of.

That said, I'm looking forward to more real courses being released in the near future
