I noticed something regarding switching defensive matchups by the CPU.

For multiple quartets, and stretches, I've had the CPU switch matchups on me, putting the point guard to defend Kevin Durant when KD was on fire. This resulted in me abusing the pg defender on the post with KD to see if they will adjust, but nothing. Had to take KD out to see if the matchups will reset, but the point guard was still guarding my small forward.

This happened against the clippers and the spurs. On superstar-sim. It didn't matter who the pg was, when I brought the ball down with Russ or Augustin, the opponent SF would guard me and the opponent pg would go to my SF.

Animation The core of this looks great players have movement at all times no weird running animations or standing in a weird defense pose like 2k15. 2k17 animation will be brilliant considering the core is good in 2k16.

I understand these sports games are iteration based but I am starting to feel it would be better just to wait it out until like 2k18 or 2k19. Instead of buying each year.
You can change jerseys in MyCareer, you need to unlock it via the "Connection" with your owner. Get to year two, you will know what I mean.

Draft prospects look a lot better and more realistic, IMO. On default settings the highest rated rookie was like a 76. Haven't looked too hard at tendencies yet...

The new draft presentation is great. I like the social media reactions to the first few picks.

Love, love, love the ticker. It immerses me into my NBA world and makes it feel more organic as there are things happening that are independent of me and my team. Only gripe is that I wish it were shown during games.

I left CPU trades on to gauge how much better the logic is and I'm happy to say that through one season there has not been a single superstar traded. There haven't been many, and the ones I looked at made sense.

LeBron became a free agent, that kinda worried me. But he and Wade (which is understandable given his age and injury history) were the only "star" players to hit the market. The rest were mid tier guys like Derozen. I don't remember where Bron signed but that would be the only head scratcher.


So far so good, I'm loving it. Once I get a handle on the new gameplay and hammer down on who I'm running with I probably wont ever leave this mode.

feeling generally positive about the game so far but I do have a couple of issues:

1) don't know if I'm missing something or what (entirely possible), but I'm just struggling to get by anyone on the perimeter. and I'm not even talking about guard-on-guard stuff. was playing Cavs-Heat last night and Bosh switched onto Kyrie (me). should've been able to get by him with ease but Bosh stuck to Kyrie like a magnet. it's a weird feeling, especially since speed on fast breaks feels better than it ever has. idk, maybe I just haven't gotten a feel for the physics yet.

2) teammates leave dudes open in the paint WAY too frequently. the number of times the CPU passes to a wide open player in the paint due to a teammate barely running after him or just losing him completely has been frustrating so far.

still need more time with it, for sure. to 2K's credit, the learning curve does seem much steeper this year, which is a good thing.

I agree.

I understand there's logic - or lack of logic? - in now having CPU controlled players lose their man and pretty much emulate the aggressiveness and awareness of actual players on the court, but thus far it doesn't seem entirely consistent.

Next time I'll record and show this because the mental lapses are not exactly mental lapses. It's just the AI simply ignoring a defensive assignment.

I had a situation where Gortat saw Anthony Davis running toward the basket and he decided it would be appropriate to help me guard the point guard. So Davis rolled right past Gortat and was open for a couple seconds before getting a pass and scoring. That shouldn't happen, I don't think.

Also a scenario where I controlled the player assigned to guard an offensive player and for whatever reason the AI controlling the 2 decided he should guard my player. I ended up having to make a decision that I knew would burn me either way.

If I control the 2 guard, the 1 probably won't come off. But if I stay on the 1 the 2 won't either. In the chance one of them does come off and tries to find his actual assignment, the offensive player has already found the open man.

I can understand this happening if I took control of the unassigned defensive player and did this, but coach made a decision and I find it hard to believe that anyone would simply forget that. I guess maybe, but at some point the AI should realize "oh, you're guarding him? Okay let me find someone else." That never happened.

Loving the game so far but it REALLY sucks not being able to see what jersey your opponent is picking for online Play Now. I really hope this can be patched because when we both pick the same color jersey it makes the game almost unplayable. We should also be able to leave the game at the startup screen instead of being locked in to the game we join head up. 2K was so close to making this mode great but something small like this ruins the experience. I also hate the new substitution layout, it takes my focus off of playing the game every time i want to make a sub.

It makes no sense why they did it like this. The mode just must not be a priority for them. It's 2015 2k, you should pay more attention to online.

This happens way too often.

And not seeing what jersey choosing your opponent.. what the logic was behind it anyway?
