NBA Live 16 Demo Available For Xbox One and PS4, Post Your Impressions

I have to be unbiased and say i agree with both flight and havala93 that this game is still light yers behind some of the sports games out there.

I spent playing fifa, nhl, nba 2k and madden lastnight just to see how the demo version of live stacked up to those games and again it all goes back to the animations in this series just being way too much at a disadvantage when you compare them to those other games even after 3 years now.

Now i do like game don't get me wrong and I've never encountered seeing the cpu do what flight just posted in that picture but ea has a history of those types of things happening in nbalive year after year which to be quite frank assinine to have that type of crap happen when your trying to restablish your product to a fanbase.

This game plays like what nba live 06 or 07 should have felt like yet here we are roughly 8 years later finally getting a game that has some replay value.....the problem is it can't compete from a overall perspective with it's other sports counter parts.

I'm going to make the best of it though just wish they didn't charge us $60 bucks for a barebones product in terms of depth.

I'm not a online gamer so i have to rely on Ea's ability to give us a good cpu ai experience.....i hope they can fix some the issues reported in the demo this year after the game drops with a top notch patch

Hey Flight, did you happen to restart the game after the Live Content Update? A few of us have had it be where it would download the update, but not really initialize until you restart. I'd give that a try. Obrien mentioned that the backwards shooting was fixed in the update.

Can't really disagree all that much , but you should be seeing some additional contact, etc.

I agree with what is being said here. The game has its strengths but also needs very evident and effective patching. I'm personally not into all the fancy game and story modes except for Dynasty, but the market demands it so this must become an area of focus next year akin to Pro AM. From a gameplay perspective, I am not going to lie, the game is a pleasure with certain eye sores. They need to address defense as has been mentioned ad nauseum. As it stands, it's too easy to shake your defender at times. This brings me to my next point. The animation that is triggered during these sequences needs more balance and variety. At this juncture the same half twist animation is being used for a fakeout each time. How about a defender falling out of balance (not necessarily facing the other direction) and other similar animations? Also, the cpu defender should be able to maintain better position most of the time after a crossover or combo move has been performed. Can this be corrected this year? So, definately more animations should be incorporated. Also agree that more uniqueness must be implemented. Dribbling, shooting, post game, etc, etc. This was belabored last year and they have improved in certain ways but need a lot more obviously.

I am putting some strong faith in this upcoming patch and future patches and hope some key issues will be addressed. This game just has a certain appealing "feel" that I can't find any where else but they need to round it out and hopefully soon!

I've only played the retail and I've seen it happen twice. I downloaded the 1st Patch and it happened and now I have the latest update and this happens again. Not gonna lie I was somewhat surprised not only by this but also the facial scan that Russell had.

Very hard for me being a EA fan from the early/mid 90's when I use to drive from Fresno to EA's San Mateo location and I would get my game a few days early. NBA Showdown was the 1st early release title that started The Hunt for me. But what is going on now I'm just stumped.

I've been trying to dump this game for 4 days now on my local Craigslist at a $40 price tag and I haven't gotten not 1 single call/offer. Imo that says a lot about what people think of EA basketball.

Unfortunately I knew Russell's face scan wouldn't be in as I had seen on Twitter from Sean O'Brien that they hadn't gotten to him yet...

The rest I'm kind of surprised to read. I posted my post update thoughts in the trial thread Dubs (me) at Spurs and noticed an immediate improvement. I wish I would have saved my shot chart as the Spurs had a handful of mid-range shots that I never saw pre-update. Plus way more contact whether it be bodying up on the perimeter or in the paint. On 5 minute quarters both teams ended up with 13-15 FT each. This was on Allstar with default sliders.

Sure it's only one game but it was dramatic enough I would've thought a decent amount of the improvements would be noticeable right off the bat...

In all fairness I didn't give it a fair shake due to glitch I encountered because I shut it off. It's not a bad game at all but I thought this game would be further along after 3 more years. But I can tell I won't be playing this in the future so I might as well move on but I do hope that this game continues to improve at a much faster pace than the present.
