I feel that Curry surpassed CP3 this season and certainly made that point in some of their head to head matchups. I certainly wouldn't have minded if Curry was a 92 and CP a 91.

It's not really about "surpassing" though. This is about ratings generating an overall.

It's just tough to see Chris Paul lower when he should likely have much better passing ratings, hands, defense, steals, etc.. Ratings that should have large impact on the PG spot. Curry had a better year, he's a better shooter, it's just hard to imagine his attributes leading to a better overall.

Same could be said for Westbrook though. He would be ahead in all athletic categories for sure. Speed, vert, quickness, strength, steals, dunks, defense, hands, blocks, rebounds, etc.

Just makes me believe that Curry is really overrated in lots of areas or that shooting ratings are a huge weight in the system.

Passing, shooting, handles, offensive iq, defensive iq, defense, playmaking, and pretty much most aspects of the game except for rebounding, athleticism, penetration, and getting to the line.

Steph Curry's Defense is really overrated.

I do believe if you swapped Curry with Westbrook with a healthy Durant on OKC, OKC would perform better and Curry would be a better compliment to Durant, and well, that entire team.

And rating Curry above Westbrook involves much more than looking at box scores and advanced stats. Curry is a better player when all those contexts are factored in. NO ONE was calling GSW stacked the year before when it had almost exactly the same roster, and Curry was already performing better than Westbrook when coached by an equally terrible coach-- Mark Jackson is basically Scott Brooks, with even MORE isolation and less passing. Brooks enabled Westbrook to basically play the way he wants to play and ball dominate in a way that takes shots away from the better player. Meanwhile, Curry was always a ball moving guard that was actually being coached in a system that was counter to some of his personal tendencies by Jackson.

If anything, I would think those who are prone to overrate Westbrook factor in less context and are more prone to be influenced by simple box score numbers.

Even if all this inefficient stuff you keep rambling about was 100% facts, this is a 2k rating. There isn't an attribute to reflect any of that stuff.

There isn't a "Curry is steadily more efficient and would compliment KD better" attribute score in 2k.

It'll be interesting to see what the individual ratings are, but Russ is so good in so many areas, along with likely the best athletic attributes in the league, it's almost surprising he isn't the top guard based on that alone. Even though technically he probably isn't the best PG in the league.
