Yeah, the CPU defense has issues, particularly in their 1/3. I'm finding it too easy to sprint down the middle and get shots off. It's like the defenders just don't want to commit to closing down or just can't. And the new collision system animations makes it easier to evade them without even trying when I'm running. I'm playing on Superstar and this is still the case.

I had a game earlier where I was intentionally trying to exploit the zig-zag sprinting down the center of midfield, and I ended up with like 18 shots on target.

I thought they said it was a hybrid. So far loving the game on PC, seems slower than the PS4 demo.

You are absolutely correct about Fluid Formations ON. IT MUST BE ON.

When I started playing on the stream, the defensive line was in utter shambles (left CB following attacker deep into the box, resulting in easy chances for both user and CPU).

It wasn't until late into the night, after testing on SuperStar and Top Player, that Fluid Formation does in fact need to be on. However, all you need to do is change the "Numbers in Attack" and "Numbers in Defense" to FEW. That's it.

Once I changed both of those to "FEW" for user and CPU team...it was like a whole new game. I am absolutely relieved because I was ready to uninstall the game.

So thanks again, @dmendenhall_9 - may have just saved PES for me.

Played four more games just now. I'm starting to get a hang on ball handling, but Id still prefer it to be more like fifa, where the controls feel more responsive and you actually feel like youre pulling off a deke.

Had my first game with zero fouls, a bit annoying, but considering the game is on 10 min halves, quite short and the action was hot. Played the next game against Napoli and there were three fouls, and a mix of slow and fast action. Scored some wonky goals, which was disheartening, until i remembered that the two games before it all the goals were staple goals, so it was nice to see some flukes.

Game definitely needs some tweaking, but enjoying it overall.

Yep, fluid formations is a must. I know PES gets flak for not having sliders, but I'm finding the tactics to be very effective.

Ok, just to clarify some aspects of this:

- Fluid formations is the CPU (or human player) having the team changing tactics when on offense and defense (and kick off, but let´s leave that aside).
- When i say tactics it´s for example, from a 4-3-3 on offense (when in possession setting) to a 4-5-1 when on defense (out of possession setting).
- Not only we can set the tactics for these two moments, we can also change the Team Instructions for EACH of these tactics. This is extremely important!
- Even with fluid formations OFF, if we change the Team Instructions when in possession and when out of possession, they will take effect! It´s not necessary to have this Fluid Formations ON for the Team Instructions to have effect, BUT it´s needed IF we want the team to change the formation when in and out of possession. This is a key difference.

Also, about how the defence behaves in this game... when you play against a CPU team (im assuming Superstar difficulty, everything below is easy) you will see teams defend completely different depending on these settings:

- Are the team instructions to press high up the pitch or not?
- Are the team instructions to be agressive or conservative (this will make the defenders to play on top of you OR to give you space and try to intercept passes.
- Are the team instructions set to defend the centre or wide? If they are to wide, the team will try to make you play to the wings (it´s NOT for you to protect the flanks, it actualy makes the defense more central, to FORCE you to play WIDE).
- How is the defensive line? High or low? Big teams is usually high, low teams it´s usually close to their goal.

And these are only the main one on defence, some offensive settings also affect how you defend...

So, pay a lot of attention to tactics (yours and CPU) in this game because they have a pronounced effect on them.

Also, the FEW, MEDIUM and MANY setting on offense and defense is crucial.

Example: if you set to MANY both on offense and defense, it will completely exaust your players, but you will get that coast to coast football some prefer, but your team will always be out of place of course....

Sorry, forgot one more thing. Matt, about this:

Once I changed both of those to "FEW" for user and CPU team...it was like a whole new game. I am absolutely relieved because I was ready to uninstall the game.

Remember, you don´t need Fluid Formations ON for these FEW on offense and FEW on defense to have effect. They will tack effect on the formation you choose (and this formation won´t change on offense and defense if Fluid Formations are off, but the FEW on offense and defense take effect).

Im sorry if im being to specific, but i feel there isn´t a very good feel about the tactics on this game due to the fact that everybody plays fifa here.

Noticed that too last/this morning Dub. On Top Player the CB's would back off my attacker once I crossed into the box allowing me pretty much a free shot on which most decent attackers would bury the majority of the time.

Hmmm...I'm going to try that today Matt. Normally I would just put them to "Many" because, well, it seems like the logical thing to do.
