Though I humbly disagree with anyone stating actual football teams do not defend by being five or so yards off the ball. I get that in and around the box they mark up and get tight (I do this in FIFA also) but in the midfield they give space and cut off lanes. Just my opnion but if you keep your defensive shape and play like a real football team you can get the accurate results. Of course the games vary and sometimes pass percentage is off in the demo. My opinion is 4 min halves have a partial impact.

To me the difference is in FIFA 15 I attacked on defense and just forced turnovers. Now, you have to use your teammates (who thankfully play way better than before). My impression is defensively it is better and more realistic. But it seems some are getting a different experience. Hard to say the cause of this.

I want to be clear. I preasure the ball when appropriate. If you just stayed five yards off the whole time they would bring the ball down the pitch and score. But they will do that if you over pursue also and lose your defensive shape. To me this seems pretty realistic but again it seems others are seeing something else.
Im using Tactical Defending controls. Are you using Legacy? Maybe thatīs the difference, donīt know really.

What i do know, its that i can clearly see that i have a much better chance of recovering the ball if i donīt press the ball carrier, only because that makes the CPU pass in a more risky way...

Im just feeling everything very... how should i say this... i feel that the CPU is a "on rails reaction machine". They react in a "robotic" way as a team, itīs almost as i already know what they are doing if i do a certain thing...

Example:

If i defend the inside of the pitch with a RB (for example) to "force" the LW to go outside and not inside, the LW reacts accordingly, it actually goes outside where the space is. This is great, good AI, however... it canīt happen all the time. Sometimes players take chances, they try to force the inside in situations like these, they dribble. Sometimes the best choice itīs not to go outside in these situations. This is an example, but i canīt shake this feeling around the whole game, itīs almost like two computers playing chess, no randomness, no variety, no poor decisions...

That sums up why this game is so much better than previous ones.

It's the start of more 'human AI'. Risk taking is part of football. When we as human players play an over-the-top through ball, we are taking a risk. My biggest gripe with FIFA 15 is that the CPU doesn't take any risks up until the point of shooting from about 12 yards out.

The FIFA 16 demo AI has blasted shots over and wide from distance, gone for ambitious passes, crosses and volleys - all the things that we do. They even managed to put a couple in from 25+ yards, something I think the CPU did precisely twice against me in the whole year of FIFA 15.

Graphics and presentation are top notch, they have finally made the font smaller on shirts for shorter names, and everything just seems to have stepped up a notch.

Honestly the only thing I'm struggling with is seeing the attribute colours on the lighter background, and when that is the biggest gripe EA have done something right.

I could still do with the AI having less possession, but I'm sure once I've had a proper look at sliders it can be tweaked.

PS Handballs actually work again, and also the referees seem to be so much better.

Im feeling the opposite honestly... i donīt see that variety..., i mean, i see the variety BUT always as a canned, rigorous reaction by the CPU to a specific action by me... maybe i just have been playing this game for many years and i know it too well for my own good!

I am using tacticl defending. But I get your point in the example.

You may be playing a higher difficulty than me. Oddly for me on too easy a difficulty it is arcade like and on too high it becomes a flawless machine. Though I thought that was my skill at the game but maybe it is just the programing. Or very possibly you are simply more observant of the way the AI reacts.

You might just be better than me at the game. Making things stand out more as you are making fewer mistakes, therefore it is obvious what is happening.

Hope that one PES or FIFA works well for you... They both seem good this year, which is great for us all. I still can not decide which will hold my time more. And have played over 100 matches in FIFA and about 50 in PES. More in FIFA because the women's mode is in my opinion the best football game to date by any company.

Totally agree... They attempt at goal from all over the place in all sorts of ways!!!!

Love how they try to score from outside the box, then will bomb the ball in from just about anywhere. Sometimes the cross is so early it catches me off guard.

I think the possesion thing will improve when Ican play mire than a 4 min halve. As I am rushing my attack. So, it seems like I give the ball up quicker than normal.

I love early crosses so I'm glad to see the computer doing it as well

The heading is quite nice this year as well - you can get a lot of variety. Flick headers either on goal or X flicked headed passes (PS4) across the six yard area are good to use at last.

I'm also liking what I've seen from goalies. There is variety on which shots they are letting in. Still not seeing any long ground shots going in but it's easy days.

I agree with you on the dribbling part. You are right when saying that in real life players take risks and force situations and not always play the "easy" way. This is my major gripe with this demo. I love it, but I hope this is improved in the final code or the community and Matt and Orion help to come up with some sliders that force the cpu to take decisions like dribbling. By dribbling I mean 1 on 1's, not FIFA 15 dribbling crap. I want to see Neymar playing as Neymar...or Messi beating players with skill like we do when we take control of him, all I'm seeing is run, run, pass or run, turn around, pass, I want more variety, like neymar's stepovers to fool my defender for example. He has dribbling as a trait in the game, why not using it? Decision making near the box is sometimes too simple in my opinion, they should make an effort to humanize it even more since they have the tech these days.

It's still an incredible game though but not everything is great right now when playing against the Cpu. Can't wait for the final release and the community sliders.

Re: FIFA 16 Demo Available Now For Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC

I've played countless games and followed this thread throughout but just wanted to say, FIFA 16 is looking like a huge improvement over 15 in all the right areas and I loved 15, issues and all. I played both CM and Pro Clubs in 15 with some FUT to change things up once in a while so I got to see FIFA at its best and worst. This year looks like a great year for soccer games.

Though I won't be getting PES 16 until a little later on, its great to have two top notch titles. I'm admittedly a FIFA first guy though and this year's demos have only solidified that.
