Anyone care to change my mind here?
For me it was the most balanced game between the offense and defense. It was a great game out of the box! I think most people remember how challenging it was out of the box. We had the plays added, online leagues were the best they ever had with sliders, online website, commish tools, etc. They added classic teams that year I believe? 1st year of Jordan? The server for me at least in 11 with our league was good with not a lot of issues. Defense was great (sure there was a forcefield) but you could win a game on the defensive end and you felt in control online or offline and not like you were on skates. I could really go on and on.

But yes games after it added some great things like in depth playbooks, more realistic defense, a far better dribbling mechanic, etc. but some things got better and other areas got worse and it feels to me that the last 3-4 years offense has been overpowered. But like I said, some areas got worse like online leagues being barebones or practice plays missing, etc. features went untouched or got removed. I want to say 11 was pretty well done with all features. Correct me if I'm wrong was crew in 11 or 12?

All in all I just think out of the box it was a well balanced game. It was a game I had the most fun with in a long time! I havnt played 2k since that game all year long like I did that year. But if I was to go back now and play 11 after playing 12,13,14, and 15 I probably couldn't do it. I think it's most memories of that game that year and most people remember being happy with that game all year long.

My thoughts exactly, the way 2k11 is still in our minds is because how balanced and feature full that game was, especially for sim gameplay and online league fanatics. (Even Czar's defensive videos came that year if i remember correctly.) I guess that year there were definitely online league wars between people and servers were not this bad at all.

The gameplay has its own downside then again yet the term balanced was everywhere in that game. You had the control on both sides and everything. Hopefully 2k16 will take its crown to the future.. Sorry going off-topic.

So your basically saying, judging it for its time, it was the best. "Out Of The Box" I can see that. But my point is, in 2015, is there really any argument to say that 2k11 is the better game to play than 2k12, 2k13, 2k14, or 2k15? It seems ridiculous. Strictly judging it on the core gameplay, 2k11 is leaps back from its successors. The problems with THOSE games lie in sheer laziness of the ratings, the random tendencies, etc. If you've got proper rosters, good sliders, the more current games blow 2k11 away.

It depends on what your judging on.

Online leagues - 2k11
Modes - 2k11
On ball Defense - 2k11
Game balance - 2k11
Practice plays - 2k13
Playbooks - 2k15
Crew - 2k12
Spacing - 2k15
Dribbling - 2k15
Post moves - 2k13
Offensive advancements - 2k12 and up

But last year saw modes missing or untouched. 2k11 didn't have that. But this is a new console generation compared to the end of 1 so hard to compare. I do believe 2k16 will surpass 11 as the goat though.

It all really comes down to balance and the offense and defense not feeling overpowered 1 way or another. We are in good hands with the czar and OG focused on simulation and gameplay balance out of the box. I'd say last year was as close to 2k11 as far as balance upon release. But way to many factors to judge on. I think most people agree the overall game of 2k11 with modes, balance, and at that point in time it was the best of its time. As a game as a whole it was the best game ever made out of the box with depth, modes, and gameplay. Nothing has come close but the sounds of it this year will. You have to remember we are just now getting things back that we had in 2k11.

He called it......before launch too..... haha!

Now if he said "2K16 best game ever made" then that'd be something else.....

If there isn't a glass shattering moment at some point, 2K16 seems like it has a legit shot at the title. And OG is a BIG reason...... balance.

Defensive depth is just...... arousing....

I hate to be "that guy," but it would be great if the thread stayed on topic.

If we have questions we want OG to maybe answer, we shouldn't make him wade through OT stuff.

Just sayin'. . .
