This is getting out of control. 2k is going backwards from their $20 guerrilla marketing strategy. Now they're just like "eh...what else are they gonna buy"

Why can't they show us gameplay? No matter if it's an early build. Why can't they show us CAP? Why can't they show us something more than screenshots and trash trailers? Lol I'm going a little overboard but for the last 4 years they have literally not released ANY information until WEEKS before the game comes out.

No other games do that. Not even Madden and it's the only Football game to buy. 2K is getting pretty high on themselves.

Probably because it's gonna be the same game as 15 with new controls (every year) and a slight graphic tweak (body scans) but they didn't scan every player so some guys are gonna look wacky compared to guys with scans smh...

Who even asked for body scans? Can we get more CAP options?
Are the clothes for myPark gonna be the exact same again? Some of this stuff is just lazy tbh. Super lazy.
I've been a NBA 2k fan since the first NBA 2k on the Dreamcast. But I have to say they're marketing plan seems to get worse every year at least from the point of me being a consumer.
I don't know of any AAA game or indie game for that matter that shows so little of their gameplay so close to release. I mean even 2k's Mafia 3 and WWE 2k 16 have more footage, screenshots and info released at this point in time and both of those games are coming out later than NBA 2K.

What makes it worse is that they're asking for preorders 3 months out before any real footage or features are announced. I Preordered the game on Greenman gaming and due to the lack of footage the official video link for footage is from NBA Live 16 not NBA 2K 16. Even retailers trying to get a hold of anything.

In my opinion 2k's marketing team has gotten to be too comfortable and complacent and it seems like they're just assuming 2k fans and basketball fans will loyally buy the newest game with little effort on their part. This is why competition is a great thing and I am glad that NBA Live is improving yearly because it will put pressure on 2K to change up their marketing strategies in the future.

And so on and so forth.

It's the same every year.

1. 2k hypes up the game with teasers and tid bits.

2. People complain 2k are hiding gameplay because they haven't changed anything or because they're lazy and have no competition blah blah blah.

3.Then they announce the modes, usually career mode last and the gameplay. They show a stream of Ronnie and Chris playing it while trying to simultaneously talk about it (and failing. Because they completely lose focus and it's hilarious).

4. At this point the hype train is a complete runaway. All on board. Steam shooting from people's butt holes, shivering with excitement.

5. More hype. Players and such endorsing it. Youtubers doing their thing.

6. Everyone buys the game. And I mean everyone. Even those who were complaining and doubting.

7. $$$$$$$$$$$

8. Exploits and issues are found.

9. People complain.

10. 2k patch it and inadvertently mess something else up.

11. $$$$$$ (tired of career mode, 60% of the fan base bitches out and buys vc)

12. More patches.

13. We start the dance all over again.

Copy and paste this every year just to remind yourself. Thanks.
I'm a little more opinionated than most and prone to exaggeration strictly because I've been a huge fan of the series for so long and i feel the essence of the series has gotten away from them.

A comment was just made in another thread about the former os members now employed at 2k having a full year to influence this game. Well, that's cool. But they obviously aren't coders. It's the same with Ronnie and ld2k, they can only do so much

But the debacle that was patch 4 can't be understated. And the current situation this game is in right now is extremely disheartening knowing czar and beds are sitting RIGHT NEXT to those devs and we've had the game play like it does right now.

They did NOT used to be the company they are today.

They gave us gameplay 2-3 months before it came out as of 12, 13, AND 14. They weren't full builds, but we had information at least about GAMEPLAY.

This year, and most of last year leading into 15 was very hush hush. I can see why for 15. The leap from 14 to 15 was probably the LEAST differentiated between previous release I've EVER seen. And the funny thing is, 15 PLAYED BETTER OUT OF THE BOX THAN IT DOES RIGHT NOW. That's horrible to think about.
Killing your own credibility here man. We just gonna sit here and pretend like we didn't find out anything about 14 until pretty much exactly ONE MONTH prior to release with that big 2K press event for the next gen release? I know I'm not the only one that remembers that. Especially since we had OS represented at the event. I wanna say aholbert was live updating us with details as they were covered there?

Why can't y'all be more patient? There are 6 WEEKS before the game comes out, and I guarantee that nearly everything you want to see will be shown before the end of August.

Re: NBA 2K16 Digital Short - Stephen Curry: Beyond the Shadows

This is the thing.

As a business model, you see your game's sales increasing every year with minimal marketing. You've built and established your brand as being of high quality, as well as financially solvent.

Why on earth would you waste money on marketing when the data proves that you don't need to, at all?

Everyone 'complaining' is still going to buy the game, most are going to enjoy said game immensely. Like 24th is saying, it's the same thing every single year, same catchphrases, same nonsense. 2K didn't this, 2K didn't that. Lol, Stop.

I don't even care about these trailers, I know when September 25th comes, I'll be playing this game. That's all there is to it, and it's the same story for most of you complaining. Why put yourself through this?

That being said, I wish there was more gameplay in the video, but I'm sure I'll get more than enough in a month...

The spike lee commercial was shown during the NBA finals. I'm sure it was pretty expensive and they didn't show any game play or anything. Do you think that was money spent wisely? I assure you it is less expensive showing gameplay clips even if the game is in alpha or beta stages. It is even less expensive releasing a feature list for the game.
