I think one of the issues with the putting is the sensitivity when the ball reaches the hole. I've seen quite a few putts over 10' hit the hole dead on and go right over it, and not even at a fast speed. I know in previous versions you could rifle the ball at the hole and it would go in, but it is way to sensitive now and needs to be adjusted down a bit. (but that is just one of the issues with putting..lol)

I've had this problem too. I probably missed 10 putts last night (in 3 rounds) where the ball literally rolled right over the cup. Perhaps they took out the mechanic where you can literally jam the ball in the cup to make it more life like. However, i think they may have overdone it a touch if that is what they were aiming to do.

Guys... pay attention to what the information on the screen is saying regarding the position on the green relative to the ball. You might hit it with perfect tempo/swing, but if the hole/aiming point is 4 inches below the ball and you don't adjust your distance on screen, you're still coming in too hot with the ball and it's going to skip the cup. Much like it would if you hit the ball too hard right at the hole IRL.

So, if it's several inches below, you know the ball is going to roll faster, so aim shorter. If it's 5 inches above, aim longer so you're giving it more power. If your skipping it over the cup, or burning the edge and it's not dropping, you've hit it too hard (regardless of what the tempo/swing meter says). Much the same if you're leaving it short with a perfect swing. You didn't "aim long enough"... err... hit it hard enough.

Just a thought.

Ok, I haven't read this thread yet but finally picked up my game for PS4 yesterday and played for about 5-6 hours on career mode. I fired the game up and played a quick round at Chambers using arcade mode lol I think I went like 19 under or something. Lets be honest if anyone if seriously using the aiming arc regularly they shouldn't be posting on here its so damn easy lol kind of fun though every once in a while. I posted a video of an albatross I got on arcade at Scottsdale.

So I decided to start my career on the standard Tour settings. First event was the web.com finals and right off the bat I noticed it was very difficult to get a fast or even normal swing rating. Everything I hit is a short swing with a slow follow through. Still trying to get the hang of that. I've gotten a little better but the follow through is still tough you almost have to flick the stick up. First round I found surprisingly challenging I think I went plus 1 and went in the drink at the island 17th. Second round I started to figure it out more and aimed passed the hole almost every time to counteract the slow swing speed. The course conditions weren't too tough and I was able to score well that day and take off for the lead. I ended up winning by 2 stokes I think maybe 8 under. All in all I thought it was a nice challenge for me.

The next tourny was the Bioware at Wetlands and I was able to score pretty well there. The course is very long for your short hitting playing at the beginning of your career but its straight and easy to play. I was able to tie Charles Howell III at 14 under to win that event. Course is pretty straight forward very challenging par 3's. In the middle of the event I decided I wanted to make it harder so I wouldn't win every tourney. I made a custom setting and added the hard swing difficulty to the Tour settings basically I have everything off except for the green beads. I'm thinking if I start winning everything I will turn those off and eventually have no grids on the green, well see...

Next event was the Arnold Palmer at Bay Hill and just when I thought this game was too easy it came up and bit me in the ***. I put 2 or 3 balls in the drink my first round and shot I think 4 over which was actually really fun for me. It felt more realistic to struggle every once in a while. That course is very well protected with water and bunkers around the green and I thought it was a nice challenge. Especially when you can't use zoom to aim your shots. Really enjoyed that. I ended up playing 2 under the next day and missed the cut by 2 stokes. Hey, I'm a rookie on the PGA tour I'm gonna miss some cuts lol

Next event is Troon and I ended up running away with that one over Rory pretty easily that course isn't particularly challenging. There wasn't much wind and the greens are pretty flat. As long as you hit it straight you will stay out of trouble.

Next was the roller coaster Wolf Creek hahahah wow do not play that course for the first time without the aiming arc. I played this course IRL back in March and shot an 88 which is actually a pretty good round for me regardless of the course difficulty so I was extremely pleased with that. I think I started off like 2 over through the first 5 holes there and I was stoked. So I'm thinking I could tear it up on a video game haha not the case. I ended up shooting a 89 on the game and withdrew from the tourney after the first round haha I pulled a Tiger. Judging the elevations on that course without the arc is so difficult. I didn't mind that I struggled that bad to be honest its making the game more interesting for me. I think we all want the game to be challenging so for me thus far the game has presented a pretty decent challenge. Although it has been two extremes lol I either win or miss the cut. I would like to battle it out for a top 10 or something that would be nice.

All in all I am VERY pleased with the game so far. I think the textures look just fine on PS4. The detail of the fairway grass and a few other things I've noticed. Love the game can't wait to see what the future brings. Hopefully I can find the right balance of settings to continue to challenge myself.

Is there no way to change opponent scoring in career mode? I remember on TW14 being able to adjust my AI opponents scoring to make winning tournaments tougher. So far I've won the BioWare Classic by 3 shots and I'm tied for the lead at Bay Hill. I'd like to not win every single time..

Come on man....We're not noobs here. We're people who have purposely sought out a forum created for discussion of a golf game. Do you really think there is anyone here other than hardcore golf game fans or folks who've played these games before?

We know about the adjustment that has to be made when putting up hill or down hill. The problem is the games programming doesn't seem to be the same as previous years.

An 88 for a non-pro at Wolf Creek in real life is a very respectable score. I played that thing in the dead of summer a few years back and barely cracked triple digits.

Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Available Today - Post Your Impressions Here

Personally I think this game is very solid. If you're just looking for a good career mode that is based around solid gameplay first and foremost, then I think you would enjoy it.

As far as the difficulty goes, here are my current settings:

Swing Mechanic - 3 Click
Swing Difficulty - Hard
Power/Spin - Off
Green Read - On
Putt Read - Off
Shot Shaping - Off
Lie Effect - Normal
Wind Gust - On
Zoom - Off
Aim Arc - Off

The key to these settings in my opinion have been the 3 click swing. It is a world of difference from the stick in so many ways. For one you can get a little extra power on your shots if you prefer, and at the same time if you miss the power click short your ball will most definitely be short of its orginal target. Same thing goes for the accuracy click. If you miss way left or right your ball is going to be in the rough for sure, but if you miss only slightly left or right then sometimes you can keep your ball in the fairway if you're lucky.

With all that being said, putting is really where I bilieve 3 click shines. Everyone is talking about how putting has no feel because you just pull the stick back the same length every time no matter the distance of the putt. This is very true, and with 3 click you actually have to worry about to power of your swing and even the accuracy of it.

So far using these settings I finished dead last, while getting used to them, in the Web.com championship, missing the cut at +25. But as I write this I'm currently in my first PGA event (63 OVR) and sitting at the cut line of +1 on the 11th hole of day 2. I can't tell you how rewarding a birdie and even par save feels right now. I can't remember the last time I had that feeling in an EA golf game.

Nice job EA
