Just makes you wonder why. What the H$%L have they been doing for two years?

To me, it seems absolutely unforgivable to come out with a NEXT-GEN game, that doesn't even have what the previous GEN had! Isn't that the whole idea of next gen??? To be better, to improve, to expand??

How could they take a year off, and come out with a Next Gen game, that is less featured, less courses, less golfers, and still has some of the problems the old versions had?? (playoffs, in particular)

It's totally baffling.

The playoff system included in that. Last night also noticed that max score is double par which sucks. The celebrations have to go too lol. Just can't get over those. I'm sure the dev team will do their best I can tell they care about the product they put out. This will be a fun game to follow.

I'm with you... there are some basic features that don't seem to be that tech dependent that they shouldn't be there, like live hole-by-hole leaderboards for online tournaments, for example.

I got an answer from one of the devs on the playoff question years ago that probably still holds today. The reason they can't do it is twofold:

1.) They can't represent a non-licensed player, even with a formless ghost player because even showing their shot telemetry along with their name could be seen as unauthorized use of their likeness.

2.) they really don't have statistically built/attribute based model of the unlicensed players you might be playing in the playoff against, so the game would have no real basis for recreating how that particular player might play, even with telemetry representation only.

The unseen "AI" players on the leaderboard are nothing more than spreadsheet results based on scoring trends.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Sucks for us but I really wish they would have publicly come out and told us all that years ago because that has always been a huge pet peeve of mine.

Even though I do realize it's not ideal I still with they would do a playoff and show us what the opponent shot on the hole (either before or after we finish the hole).

Although not ideal it would still be better than the user just defaulting to winning every time.

They did do this in one year's game... was it 10 or 11? I remember playing in a couple of them and I didn't know what the other guy shot until after I holed out. I remember losing and winning one this way, but it was only marginally better than just being awarded the victory, IMO. BTW, the dev who told me that said they weren't positive that they would be challenged on using non-licensed golfer's ghost ball telemetry, but their legal dept. didn't want them to even chance it.

Oh for sure, I actually seriously doubt they would get challenged but I get the risk and why they wouldn't do it.

I don't remember the playoff but to me anything would be better than arbitrarily be given the win.

Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Trial Available Now on EA Access, Post Your Impressions

I pre-ordered this one and have about 1/3 of it paid off so far. I can't remember being as excited for a sports game as I have been for this one since it was announced, but these impressions are definitely a downer. I still really want to get this game, but I'm wondering if I should transfer my pre-order money to something else and get this when the price drops and/or more golfers and courses are released. I was truly hoping EA Sports would knock it out of the park with this one, but I've had my doubts since the rough news during E3 week...

Thanks.

You won't get a response until after we have the game and are not under the 10 hour EA Access restriction....

The reintroduction of the career calendar should be high on the list I hope. I mean maybe the first few years as a young unproven player you may play every tourney but look at the big names they pick and choose their schedule in real life. This really isnt a factor until we have more courses to fill the schedule though.

It would be awesome if they concentrated on the career aspects in my opinion. Adding match play tourneys would be sweet stuff like that. Ryder cup too. High hopes I guess well just have to wait and see.
