I think it's sad to say this but after playing the trial. I believe this game and it's fun factor were built around Night Club. That mode I've thoroughly enjoyed more than the sim aspect and modes of the game.

This went from preorderd to down the drain quick, going to be way too easy at the hardest difficulty , maybe they will patch in the diagonal swing and ball cursor in bad lies like tw14, hitting every fairway snooze, the only misses from tempo snooze, super deflated

I can look at Career stats (I'm guessing for career mode play only) after I complete a PGA Tournament, which I'm working on now, but haven't completed yet. There are other stat fields in other places that are still blank for live play. I may not have looked everywhere for stats yet, but there's nothing I've seen that breaks down your previous round(s) stats so far.

Could the game be more challenging? Yes. Hope Justin and Team are listening because there is some very good feedback here....
I guess what I'm saying is to make it realistic, make the misses left or right, not always short. It can still be tough to be inside 20' but don't make it seem like Tour pros are short of their targets by as much as 'Slow' tempo in this series makes them.

IMO, tempo is one of the LAST things tour pros and better golfers worry about. And like Onlooker mentioned earlier in this thread, proper tempo in this game is very misrepresented. The transition from backswing to downswing is way too quick and it leads to the unrealistic looking animations with the swings.

Tbh, when I golf IRL, the only time my game goes way off the rails is when my tempo is way wayyyyy too quick. And in this series, that kind of tempo is encouraged.

All I'm saying is make tempo the least important part of the swing stick, not the most important. You could argue that tempo is way more important than swinging straight in the swing stick's current current form because of how forgiving mis-hitting left and right is. When you watch a PGA broadcast on TV and they'll analyze a guy's swing when he misses, they'll say he was quick or blocked out or any number of terms...but those shots result in a miss left or right, not many yards short. That's all I want, emphasize the important parts of a golf swing, not the one thing you hardly ever hear them talk about with a Tour pro's swing.

Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Trial Available Now on EA Access, Post Your Impressions

Forgive my ignorance because I haven't played an EA golf game since TW12 and I have a few questions after playing the demo. First I should note that I pretty much hated 12 after being a long time fan of the series. I thought the caddy was the most pathetic hand holding feature I'd ever seen in any game and completely ruined what made TW so much fun.

First, what's with the green tempo ball, is that new? It doesn't seem to be removable since tempo is so important but I feel like I'm watching a green ball instead of my golfer swing.

This leads to my next question: do you always just swing away and let wherever you aimed the arrow control the distance? If I remember correctly back in the ps2/xbox days if you had a shot that was between clubs you either club down and powerboost or take something off the longer club. While playing on Tour difficulty the former wouldn't be an option but I feel the old way was much more fun and challenging. Trying to figure out what 80% of a full swing was and then trying to execute to me was classic TW golf. Now it's just aim the pointer, adjust for the wind (unless playing on arcade which shows you exactly how the wind will shape the ball which is pathetic even for "arcade" mode) and take a full swing = success. If you have to take off some tempo that would be one thing but when I played yesterday I just did the same standard swing every time and it pretty much always went right at where I was aiming.

If anyone knows what i'm talking about and could clear it up for me some or let me know that I'm completely wrong I'd appreciate it.

Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Trial Available Now on EA Access, Post Your Impressions

From watching videos. Graphics look meh. Rory looks absolutely terrible. Sound design is horrendous. Wedges sound like you are hitting a wooden club. Crowd reacts awkwardly etc.

The presentation is laughable and my god, the celebrations O.o I just can't get immersed in a game that can't even do the little things right. Golf is all about the little things. I understand guys want to play fast and all that great stuff, but where is the scenes of reading putts, talking to the caddy, pre shot routines. Scenes of you walking down the fairway with your playing partner while commentary is going etc etc.

Its literally, hit ball. Teleport to next shot. Hit ball. Teleport to green. Putt. For a sport/game that only focuses so much on one player, you can't leave the presentation that empty. It just feels lazy. To say this is supposed to replicate TV presentation is laughable at best.

On top of that, the game looks way too damn easy. Awkward paths on swings still lead to shots just off center and not to mention the ball physics are still awful.

I was well on the fence about giving this game a look, but having these videos showed me that I don't need to waste my money.
