Re: Madden NFL 16 Launches on August 25th - News, Features and Details Arrive in May

I'd like to see FA bidding replaced by an NCAA recruiting system. Each FA would have a list of teams he's interested in, and each team would then be able to pitch him as to why he should sign with them, if you're not on his list you can be by making the right pitches and being aggressive enough. Then once he decides that team would be able to make an offer. But if it's too low he will break off contract talks and go back on the market.

A system like that would be far more realistic than the current one. That, and you wouldn't see CB's, LB's, and WR's making $150m with a $60m bonus, which is all to common in online CFM's. If someone like PP were to be a FA, I feel as if I have to offer $150+m to have any shot at him.

Could say the same for Madden 09 and 10. But now, it just seems dead. It's like, the people who are going to buy it are going to buy it, whatever, but the excitement for it is just dead.

It's like this game has crushed football gamer's spirits. I miss the time when football gaming was exciting and you marked your calender for the new season campaign swirl. But, we had competition in most of those years, so I digress.
I think they market the game much different than the past regimes.

Once the trailer hits and E3 hits, the marketing and hype will ramp back up.

In the Ian days, there were 1 or 2 community days by now, plus, on SB Sunday, they would do a sneak peak on some of the things that would be in the game.

I'm talking about even before E3 or trailers hit though. The anticipation for Madden just doesn't seem like it's strong to me like it was at one time. I can remember years where before even a trailer hit, there was a lot of anticipatory buzz and people posting tons of speculation threads across the net about the game. Today, it just seems rather dead to me by comparison. But there are also millions less people playing Madden today than in 2007. Millions literally have given up on the game since then (and understandably so), so it's going to have an effect on anticipation buzz.

Well, yeah, that was what I was talking about, too. (along with less people buying it)

The marketing and hype train was much earlier, SB Sunday, community days, Ian and Phil taking the plunge and interacting in the forums, etc..... I agree the buzz and the hype appear dead because all that stuff started at the SB.

Lately, the marketing and hype train are much later down the road.

No it's not. It's not just him.

The fan buzz for Madden hasn't been what it used to be in years now. No way is it the same today at this very point as it was with say, Madden 05 or Madden 08. No way.

The game has been a disappointment to a lot of people for years now (hence the millions in units dropped), so of course fanfare behind it has gone down. Madden makes a lot of money from MUT, but units sold over the past few years is WAY down from other times.

I think he's speaking on the matter regardless of when EA begins their marketing blitz. Back with Madden 05-08, they weren't doing much if any interacting on boards or starting anything at the Super Bowl. That came in later years.

Agree, but the buzz doesn't go away when marketing starts up.

Over time, especially a decade, my interest in most video games are fading away.
