Things definitely look a bit dimmer after the NCAA convention, with any action on licensing of college player likenesses or apparel not seeing any movement during the yearly landmark meeting. I wrote an article
on the possibility of new legislation making it possible for college sports games to make a return, but that simply didn't happen. We did see small hints that such a model will be viable in the future, but there are no signs an immediate return in the next 18 months is coming.
Coming out of the meeting was landmark four year scholarships and full cost of attendance scholarships -- but no movement on the licensing of player likenesses.
While a future NCAA meeting will likely discuss this issue, thanks to the 'resolution to modernize the collegiate athletics model', until ongoing litigation is dealt with, there likely won't be any real movement.
