Matt I have just found something that imo is crucial. I took a look to the parameters in cl.ini and I decided to see more closely this global cpu pass error slider. The pass error slider is not an actual pass error slider for the cpu. It's a slider that affects cpu build up. In general it's a direct pass/pass variation slider which works backwards. I've set it to 07 (yes 7) and the cpu build up suddenly got more direct and varied with crosses, 1-2's etc. This means that if we set this one to higher values than default 50 the cpu gets more cautious and dribbles much more because it looks for that easy short pass. Now with the slider at 7 I've seen many more errors from cpu because they're confident they can pass without error which leads to more errors in their passes! I know it sounds weird but it's exactly like this. Crossings in the box although are more dangerous but this is not a problem because head scoring is actually very balanced this year.
I'm yet to test if leaving from default 50 breaks individual cpu teams build up. As it is though the only options are setting this either on 50 or way below to get more variation in the cpu build up.

I've put a lot of time into the game already, and haven't seen one reviewed. Had a couple close calls, too.

Same here, I've played probably 20 Prem matches, and have yet to see a single instance of GLT in effect.

I'm starting to convince myself that it's just not included in the game.

Fearwhatnow,

Great discovery! Thank you for sharing that. It doesn't sound weird, the other EA titles have these same "mis-labeled" slider issues. This is exactly the sort of thing we need to identify. Again, great work.

IŽve tried it for a few mins. but of course it has to be tested in several matches to get to a proper conclusion.

Increasing pass error extremely does make the ball bounce more and lose a bit of speed in CPU passes. Now the important thing, is not what the slider does, but really how the CPU reacts to it. If you say the CPU is not so good at passing, heŽll do what any ohter team would: he will play more direct, trying to put the ball in the front as soon as possible, he wont try to play possession soccer, simply because he knows he won't succeed.
If we lower the pass error slider, then CPU feels confident enough and keeps possession, makes more passing and generaly, tries to score goals through assistences, crosses etc. Of course, because he is trying to pass more around, we also get more chances to intercept the ball. For some it might become more realistic gameplay, not so much to others, depending how you play on defense.

Watching some CPU vs CPU matches I realized that CPU defends cautiously, trying to cut passing lanes etc, and sometimes I can do that, wich makes the CPU think twice before doing some run or risky pass. Good positioning is absolutely decisive and on most matches I can achieve it, wich makes default sliders arguably good enough to enjoy this game.

It was supposed to be posted on Matt's sliders thread and accidentaly I've posted here. Anyway, after some extensive testing I think I've come to a conclusion that this slider should stay at default 50 or at least not higher than the default value.

I have seen the GLT nearly 5 times. Today also: I was playing against Everton and Miralas fired one from outside the box. The ball hit the 1st woodwork and then the 2nd and I was able to finally clear the ball. The incident was reviewed after 5 minutes with the GLT feature.

This is amazing to hear, and now I can't wait to get home and see what happens when I drop that damn thing to 0, haha.
