WHY are recievers so bad at playing jump balls, and DBs so good? It's getting to the point where the game is unplayable for me. The amount of INTs that are being generated by apathetic WRs is maddening. I'm also finding that the Y button is absolutely useless. Half the time when you go to catch a pass your WR will just kind of put his hands up, and the DB gets a completely uncontested shot at the ball. It's PATHETIC. How can a button on the controller not work properly? Absolutely mind-boggling.

I have to agree. With the passing game being such a big part of the NFL now it's difficult to enjoy a game where you can only throw short passes.

Limited ball placement + no WR aggression = weak passing game.

Weak passing game in 2014 = bad NFL simulation.

12 more days...

Re: Madden NFL 15 Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (XB1/PS4)

So I just discovered another one of Madden's dirty tricks. On one play I take control of my DB in order to pick off a pass. The position that the DB is in, theres no way in hell that the pass should be complete. Zero. As I press Y and the Db goes for the ball, completely in front of the WR, somehow the WR ends up with it. I go to replay, and the moment my DB was about to be in front of the ball, he literally STOPS in place. As the ball then enters the hands of the WR, the DB then resumes going in the direction hes in, hands still up, trying to get the INT.

Reviewers need to play this game for a month or so before doing reviews. Only then does the shine come off and you become aware of the intricate, myriad problems that this game has. No way that this game should be getting anything higher than a 6 in reviews, what with all the issues it has, the majority of them either being legacy or being problems popping up again after a few years hiatus (such as the awful run and pass blocking AI, as in guys staring into open space or outright IGNORING opponents right in front of them, which was for a few years there all but snuffed out.)

Oh yeah that's nothing new. At first we had the ball warping into WR hands. Now we have WRs warping to catch the ball. I'm also pissed that some of the pass inaccuracies are forced. WRs will have a clear path to the football, but instead of hustling to make the catch they'll literally warp in the opposite direction and do one of those flailing animations.

I love football and I like the game, but I'm losing patience. If I had a CFM to keep me busy I honestly probably wouldn't even notice the small gameplay flaws, but when I'm forced to play MUT and random Play-Now games they really start to stand out.

Re: Madden NFL 15 Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (XB1/PS4)

I just upgraded to a PS4. I traded in my PS3 and Madden 15 is now a PS4 game for me. I played 25+ games on the PS3 and I really liked that game. I thought it was the best Madden ever on PS3. It looked good although it wasn’t always balanced. The game was overly offensive, 3rd and short was automatic to pick up and the defensive secondary play very suspect. I’ve only played about 3 games or so total on the PS4 so these are early impressions of the switch.

First the game looks really good. The graphics are good but at the same time they don’t blow me away. I think the general leap from PS3 to PS4 just isn’t that huge as in the past. I don’t play on the super close cameras and I’m not a graphics whore anyway. Some of the things I do notice are the grass, the much improved crowds in the stands and the lighting. It’s certainly better looking than the PS3 but the graphics aren’t a system seller imo.

The PS4 game is MUCH harder. I find all-pro on PS4 more difficult than All-Madden on PS3. The game is much more balanced out of the box on PS4 and defense is a lot stronger as well. The running game is much harder and the secondary play seems better. Animations are smoother and the line play is a lot nicer. Not only do you get the mini-game with time button presses which is a huge improvement over confusing PS3 line play but you also get the defensive camera options. I’ve only messed with those a little but they are cool. The line play is more organic overall.

I’m fine with the new play screen. If I had the choice I’d go back to the PS3 one since it takes too long to pick my play. I’m rushing more than before but I don’t see it as a really big deal. I think there are too many cut scene displays after plays but overall presentation is good. The halftime show is good and I’ve seen a game track type of highlight package that you used to get on NCAA 14. Never saw that on PS3. The injury cut scenes are a lot better too although Danielle Bellini seems to be missing at times.

The QB accuracies are actually a lot better on PS4. With cpu at 40 I saw EJ Manuel overthrow guys a couple times. At 5 on PS3 he rarely missed. But the PS4 cpu QB accuracy slider does impact the playcalling from my short time (and what I read). I tried it at 10 and the play calls were 90% runs.

Overall the PS4 is an improvement in almost every area except one huge area that I find VERY annoying. The player momentum and control is terrible. I’ve complained about the lack of momentum and overly twitchy player movement on the PS3 but this system is not what I wanted. It feels like you are steering a large boat with every player. I’m fine if that was for a back like Blount or a FB but not for Shady McCoy or Sproles. The one cut RB feels like its dead on the PS4. Trying to make any sort of cutback and your RB enters into a pitter-patter animation where they try to stop dead in their tracks instead of a cut upfield. I loved being able to see a hole and cut back into it on the PS3. I feel like that’s almost impossible now. And making guys miss manually with the L-stick? Gone. With McCoy and Sproles their juke move with the precision modifier isn’t bad but you have to execute it very early and pray. Right now whenever I’m in the open field I just get tackled. So right now I can’t cut back and I can’t make people miss. So running plays are basically follow the play through the hole and get tackled. I feel I have little impact and the running game just isn’t fun. Maybe this game has a steep learning curve but this area is a HUGE negative compared to the PS3 for me right now. It would be nice if the quicker backs got better animations to truly reflect their skill set.

So overall I’m finding Madden PS4 really good in almost every area. Smoother, better looking, more defense, better balance but the player movement in the running game is so poor it just sucks the fun out it for me. It’s really hard to adjust to this after the PS3 version.

Re: Madden NFL 15 Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (XB1/PS4)

Well after finally switching over from the 360 version, I can say this game is much better. It took me awhile to get use to calling my plays on Defense but once you know your defensive play book it becomes very easy. I am enjoying this game immensely on line now. I very rarely play the computer because I find it boring and find human opponents are much more challenging. I can do every thing that some people are complaining about with problems every now and then. I am not a madden fan at all. I am from the 2k days and I have to give it to this madden this year. The games seems to be on point for me at least. I will be playing this game all the way to the next one comes out. On a side note, this is my last console; I can only hope for the next eight years this game becomes what we wanted it to be or at least see some one else get a crack at it. I never rate games either . I just go off of good or bad and for it the game is GOOD!

I agree, these review scores are wrong.
They don't even bring up any of these problems.
Yeah, even fifa cheats it's an EA AI thing!

Re: Madden NFL 15 Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (XB1/PS4)

Anyone else just find Madden 15 to be kind of boring? I mean, it's def better than previous Maddens I've played, but the game just seems dry, compared to what else is out there. I really don't see myself playing it much after NBA 2k15 drops. Maybe I'll play some play now games, but for now I'm just rushing thru CFM so I can say I completed one season. I'm thinking about trading this in for Shadow of Mordor. Anyone know of any good trade in values for Madden 15?
