Re: FIFA 15 Demo Gameplay Impressions

The demo is good. I scored a sick goal with Sturridge in my first game. David Silva actually feels useful this year. Also when your jersey gets tugged on you can see it, that was awesome. Really looking forward to the game and playing with more teams. Can't wait to start my career mode with CITY!

Is there not a way to just practice in the demo like you could in the 14 demo? Just practice dribbling and shooting and such?

Oddly, only on the past gen demo. 360 has the arena and you can also play 4 bronze level skill games. I guess ps3 is the same.

Not sure why those are missing from the NG demo.

I have tried manual myself many times. I keep trying it every year and tried it again with the demo.

The problem I have is that I play on Broadcast camera which changes the perspective considerably. I have no problem when the action is around the half line, but when you are playing deep in your half and deep in the opposition half, the camera / controller match is more awkward.

As a result, manual passes are much more difficult to execute in those areas and on many occasions I have given the ball away in my area, when all I wanted to do was pass to the next defender. In the end it became such a frustration that I had to go back to semi for passing. I keep going between manual and assisted for the through ball. You are right in that an assisted through ball will often go to a near player (when in fact I intended it to go to a far player).

So yes, you are right, but Manual doesn't work for me as it's too unpredictable on Broadcast camera and too risky where risk should not be a factor.
So what camera angle is best to play with the manual control scheme? I've only played FIFA with the default camera.

Shooting should be fixed on the full game according to reports from people who have claimed to have played the full game.

The rest of it. No clue if any of it will be fixed.
Yep, he's definitely right.

I just played about 30 games over the last two days and I'm more and more disappointed. The beauty of its presentation has worn off and I'm not just staring at all the pretty imagery anymore, instead focusing on the way the football feels.

Defending is broken. I pretty much just grab a player and either zone mark or get as close to an attacking player without, you know, doing anything helpful because tackling is nearly useless and contain merely invites the CPU attacker to nutmeg me repeatedly. If you play even sorta tight, you're gonna get burned ad nauseum.

Attacking is also broken, but mostly because I feel like my players run/sprint/dribble at about 80% the proficiency of the CPU. I have been playing defaults @ World Class difficulty. My average scores after playing Liverpool vs. Napoli were 3-1 in favor of the CPU.

Physics. OH DEAR. Just awful? I'm playing on Slow and there are moments where the game looks a bit like Ice Hockey on NES. The players move very quickly and almost look like...robots? I dunno, but the animation is really uncanny and bizarre this year. Wayyyyy too fast on Slow. The buildup play is laughably non-existent. The CPU can grab the football with a fullback or centre half and punt it 60 meters. This was happening CONSTANTLY with Hiquain. Napoli would either dispossess/tackle/grab a 50-50, then move .25 seconds before unleashing a howitzer link up the pitch. Instantaneous attack.

So, part of this stuff might be fixed with the retail build and lots of sliders. However, I went and played my FIFA 14 game and was like, "Ahhh, bless."

That is a first for me in many years. I preferred 14 over 13 and 13 over 12, etc.

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm really unimpressed/unenthusiastic at the moment.

I had the exact same thoughts for the first few days I played the demo. It seems that the built in CPU advantages on the higher levels are even more ridiculous this year....and then I changed a few sliders.

CPU Pass Error-100....Getting CPU pass percentages in the high 70s and low 80s
CPU Sprint and Acceleration-45
Line Height, Width, and Length-49...thanks Orion!
Marking-53
Legacy Defending or Tactical Defending

With the USER defenders as bad as they are this year I have no issue with dropping the CPU speed sliders to sort of even things out on World Class. It also allows for a realistic amount of USER tackles. You know how the CPU somehow always manages to dribble around your tackle or you just slide through him? This helps. It also helps the USER foul count.

Probably will make a few more changes as I think the shot and pass speeds are a little high.

Damn it! Why did I download this? I had no intentions of buying it at all this year. But after playing this demo think I might have to.
