I did it the last few years with Playoff mode but on lower levels penalties get tricky but it might be better this year as Im testing a set now .
I think Pro level with tougher sliders is the way to go

I just had one of the best games ever this morning. Pitt (me) vs Florida. I won 3-2 in OT. Shot were 32-30 for me, I had 2 PP Florida had 4. TOA was 6:32 - 6:01 for me. Kunitz scored a weaker one in OT, but other than that the goals were pretty awesome.
I played the whole game on True Broadcast and other than sometimes not being able to see the ice where play was, and the fact I have never played on a side view before, it was awesome.

I just wish that when I had CPU Learning slider set that my CPU players would learn because it seemed all I kept having to do was cover the cross crease pass as they would just stand there.

Fun game though.

Im getting murdered on these passes. Im having to control every defender on a play just to keep them from wandering off.

Re: NHL 15 Available Now for PS4 and Xbox One - Post Your Impressions Here

just played 2 great games on Superstar level 15 minutes

Game 1

Rangers (me) at the Sabres (CPU)
score: 4-1
shots: 37-19
PP: 1 of 7/ 0-3
TOI: 7:53 vs 4:44
hits: 12-9
Faceoffs: 21-23
Breakways: 1-1

it was a cruise of a game as the sabres took some early penalties and I scored the first 2 goals of the game. They made it 2-1 but it was 3-1 after 2 and added an early goal in the 3rd and that was that. The CPU never threatened me in this game and it felt like playing a really bad team on an off night. Most of their shots were not of good variety as it was pretty easy handling their offense with the great rangers blue line. I scored a point wrist shot low on the ice with Mcdonagh.

Game 2

Flyers ( CPU) at Rangers ( me)
score: 3-2
shots: 36-23
PP: 1 of 8/ 0-3
TOI: 6:05 vs 5:36
hits: 11-7
Faceoffs: 23-30
Breakaways: 1-0

Philadelphia was much tougher and Simmonds gave me a lot of trouble. He hurt hagelin and scored the game winner at the 3rd. Game was tilted in the 1st 2 periods, all flyers. I tied the game with 10 mins left, but they won the game 2 mins remaining. Cpu Scored on a point slapper with Coburn top shelf after an extended cpu cycle in the 1st.

In years past, I would NEVER try superstar level as playing an AHL team felt similar to playing the canadiens centennial team. But I tried it on NHL 15 and team skills were felt. I played the sabers and the flyers to test it, and it was night and day how the 2 teams felt. Also, there are more penalties called on this level as you see in my stat lines.

The gameplay is really good in this game, and lowering cpu one timer accuracy will make their offense less dependent on the one timer, they will still attempt but not as often as before.

Cpu executes the powerplay like they do in real life, or close to it.
CPU executed a perfect 2 on 1, it was the FIRST time I saw this in an EA NHL game.

Very impressive stuff. I'm really glad I bought this game....barebones and all.

With slider tweaks, I am absolutely loving the actual hockey, however the rest of the game is an absolute mess.

Graphics: 7/10 - Nowhere near as good as they could have been, given the fact that they essentially had 2 years to develop the game. They aren't too much better than the last one I played on PS3 which I believe was 12. The ice looks fantastic however.

Sound: 7/10 - The commentary is okay but nothing inspiring. The music, both in the stadiums and the presentation is very good, but I expected more of a new commentary team.

Presentation: In-game 9/10, menus 5/10. The NBC broadcast package is fantastic, and it really adds to proceedings. Could do with a few more stay overlays during the game though.

The area which really irks me is the way the menus work. They are unresponsive and convoluted. There's something about the font which makes in slightly strange to read. That could just be me but I don't find the game easy to navigate at all.

Gameplay:8.5/10 - The actual hockey is really good. You have to make a lot of adjustments to get a great game on the ice, however I love the fact that EA allow us to adjust pretty much every aspect of gameplay.

Overall: 7.5/10

I don't know a thing about games development, however some things in here smack of laziness. Such as not giving a goalie the right coloured equipment when they get traded. If you aren't going to include an edit mode then at least find a way round an annoying problem like that.

The hockey on the ice rescues this game, but unfortunately, other problems, some little and some bigger, make it impossible to recommend it.

I'm going to go back to the PS3 for this one I think, because for as good as the hockey is, it's not THAT much better to justify this over the last-gen version which is fully fleshed-out.

Once again, a next - gen game fails to deliver on the promises of its team.

Shouldnt goaltenders be included in gameplay? This game cant repkicate the impact of elite tenders at all.

Out of the box they weren't very good at all, but after playing with sliders I've got it to a point where they are decent but not superhuman.

Playing in goal in the NHL is one of the harder sporting positions to replicate though.

Its been done before in the 2k series 8 years ago bro. Not to bring up old games but there is no excuse for ea goalies need to be redone.
