Madden NFL 15: Online Impressions

As the world of video games hectically migrates towards online gaming as its main focus, the sports genre is no different. Playing head-to-head was once the acceptable norm, but oh how the landscape has changed over the last 5 years. Now sports gamers want and expect the full game experience online, and in many cases, even more.

With EA’s latest iteration of its NFL franchise, Madden 15, dropping this week, fans of the series are hoping that the polarizing developer has delivered just that - a full online experience.

Until EA returns an option to play in lobbies or servers with a "Fair Play" option, Head to Head remains frustratingly the same. Its not even about wins and losses to "cheesers" (or whatever you prefer to call them)...its about how damn BORING it is to be playing the same game for the last 10+ years.

Football is not going for it on 4th and 11 from your own 20 in the first quarter.
Football is not onside kicks to open the game.
Football is not running constant no huddle, even off of sacks and bad plays, only to run the same play and get a same result.

If EA wanted to improve online H2H play they would institute the same system that 2K uses for basketball H2H and force players who behave badly online to wait a period of time before they can play again.

I would like to see them force players who quit a game wait until the person they quit against finishes their next game (or 1 hour server ban, whichever is less) to prevent people from constantly quitting and making insane decisions in the game. I don't care if people want to waste their own time and play like jackoffs, but when you request a friendly quit with no score on the opening possession because you would rather not waste 45 minutes with these people, you have no choice but to play them or to take a quit and that is just not right.

Quit catering to the social misfit crowd is an EA specialty...I guess they figure that the 11-15 year old crowd are the ones making these kind of gameplay decisions, but their wrong...

@TTD71 wait how is that bad? I love people going for it on 4th and long backed up on on their own side of the field, i love them doing onside kicks it works like 1 out of 10 times gives me perfect field postion, and i love people running no huddle with the same plays...they are easy to read. These are all benefits to people that play agajnst these type of players in my opinion. Im not with forcing people to play a certain way you bought the game you should play it however you want. As far as people quitting games they lose points and you gain some i dont see the problem with that.

I agree with ttd but this yrs version is way more manageable than previous yrs so far. This time (for now) its an authentic chess match given their is still cheesy tactics but their is a defense for it aswell, it just takes some digging to discover there are more plays at your disposal as always instead of relying on the norm and modifying from that.

Open your mind and your playbook and make them play the game you want out of it even if they dont. It took me a while but now im grasping it and people are resorting to cheating and getting their wins still now.

I just beat a guy running 4 verts all game, took me about a quarter to find the right but when I did all u heard on the other end was complaining and raging. Glad EA implement the previous play feature so u can see what ur opponent called it should force ppl to come up with schemes as oppose to running one play all game.

i never been big on the lobbies i just wanted to find a quick match and be in and out. i do love how i can see opponents plays in which it forces myself and others to be creative on play calling.

H O R R I B L E game....... Smh

How can any football gamer accept this, wow what beyond disgusting hype for this game. Horrible physics, slow reaction times and never truly feeling in control of your player. Man how I miss NFL 2K football, Madden 15 is a disgrace and I can't believe I spent money on this........

Also the play calling menu must be the worst I've ever seen in football gaming
