There is absolutely nothing that can be done on offense with that. The ball handler can't take his man 1v1 off the dribble, because there are already two other defenders in the lane. They're also in position to steal a potential pass to the post, and they're fast enough to close out on either pass to the wings. The off-ball teammates on the wings don't really move, until one of them decides to cut into the middle of the paint, clogging things up even more.
It remains to be seen if the AI will have the same habits when using NBA teams but the from the vids I've seen so far the NBA defense looks different. Of course, the no 3 seconds in the lane rule for international play allows crowding of the lane which is why similar to college ball, there is generally less opportunity to penetrate.. so its cool to see it simulated in this mode, though I do agree with some of your general concerns about player spacing.

Was it just me or did that game really have a "euroleague" feel to it ???

It seemed different than the Heat/Spurs gameplay.
AGREED!!!!!

The game felt and looked like Euro League play. Nice job by 2K on that part.

Gameplay was fluid and the transition animations from dribbling to shooting were much smoother and more realistic than in previous years. Hopefully when the game is released we will see even greater and better improvements.

I just wish they would add more old school teams.

Like:

2000-2002 ~ L.A. Lakers (Championship Teams 3-Peat)

2011 ~ Dallas Mavericks (Championship Team)

2000 ~ Indiana Pacers (It's Miller Time)

1993 ~ Phoenix Suns (Sir Charles was a beast this year)

2003-04 ~ Detroit Pistons (Championship Team)

2007 Cleveland Cavilers (LeBron took Cavs to Finals)
