Two different features of EA Access...

The Vault - unlimited access to older games
Play First - trial/early access to newer games not included in the service

Because it may not be unlimited for all games like Dragon Age. Also the only thing that mentions 2 hrs is Major Nelson's post. The EA website doesnt mention it. The press release doesnt. They just mention limited time.

I'll just pay 4.99 for August. If its a limited amount of time for Madden, I'll cancel it. If its unlimited like their old system was I will pay the 30 bucks.

It's limited play for all the "PLAY FIRST" games, that are available 5 days prior to release date. Their TOS calls it a "limited trial", which tells me it will not be full access to the game for 5 days, which is what a majority of the people were expecting.

You are assuming things based on the term "limited trial" The limited trial could be hours or days depending on the game. Nothing there confirms either.

I say just wait till we know for sure. Nothing would irk me more than to find out I just paid $5 for what is essentially a demo.
