It was 4-5 years ago.. Madden '08 or '09 I believe. It was a part of the Superstar mode. This "defensive camera" is the same exact camera as that mode used. It's the same camera as the defensive lock camera from NCAA.

The ability to switch players with it is definitely new. But the actual view has been a part of NCAA for years and was in Madden before. Of that, I am 100% positive.

Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely excited it's in and I will use it exclusively while playing defense. I just thought it was comical that Rex said it was the first time in Madden franchise history that this camera has been available.

It is the first that doesn't require the superstar or whatever you want to call it "mode".
This is something we've been asking for it since that time especially after NCAA got it. Glad it's finally in.
Now August needs to get here.

Haven't enjoyed the past 4-5 years of Madden but for some reason, I'm really excited. I'm drinking the kool-aid.

I have to say, this particular video looks pretty cool. I like the combination of the ability to generally steer the OL with the L-stick while being able to work contextualized moves off of your positioning with the face buttons. That seems to add some strategy to pass rushing that was absent in previous versions of the game.

I like where they're heading, at least in theory, here.
