the gameplay and goalies are a port from last gen. correct?
the only thing redone completely was puck physics and player models?

More dynamic moments would go a long way towards making this game less stale for a lot of people, i would imagine. I'm on the fence about the clothes, from what i've seen in this video at least. Quick's jersey is bouncing around like it's made of rubber. I didn't mind the stuck to the player jerseys much, myself.

Yeah though it's likely a build from months ago. It takes time to put builds together for trade shows. I would gather the build they likely have inhouse is much further along. That's why I hate when people judge E3 stuff on locked settings with default sliders. They're judging a game that isn't even complete without tuned sliders to begin with.

As opposed to games vs the AI that let you skate into the zone full speed and right by them? How is that in any way more realistic. 1v1 at high levels is a much more competitive game than any game vs the AI. AI lets you walk right into high percentage areas no problem. Online players actually know how to defend things.

And cheating? There is no cheating unless you're getting looped or desynched, and that has happened to me about twice in probably close to 500 games. If you're getting scored on by the same shots over and over, learn how to defend them. If a team in the NHL could walk into the slot and snipe over and over again to put up 5 goals a game, they would do it. But opposing teams are actually competent enough to stop them from doing so.

Would you mind shooting me a PM with your sliders? I would like to see this with my eyes. I will plug them into 13 if I can find it. Honestly, I have never seen a pass intercepted by the CPU from me flinging the puck up the ice to my player at the red or far blue line.

I'll rehook up the PS3 either later tonight or tomorrow and jot them down for you.

Re: NHL 15: First Gameplay Video Emerges

Thanks! Ya it'd be interesting to see. In my experience with NHL since there's so few sliders pretty much everyone comes up with a set that basically ends up being exactly like the other. Obviously people have a couple of their own tweaks based on their preferences but the bigger sliders such as CPU Learning, attribute affect, and CPU difficulty adjustment tend to be the same. To me those are the sliders that are touchy and one click can either make the game crazy or playable.

I'm still a huge advocate of EA putting in more AI sliders so we can actually change the brain of the CPU. I truly believe that if EA put in CPU AI sliders for many different areas, instead of generic non descriptive sliders like the ones I mentioned above, everyone could probably play the game they want. Honestly I think it would allow the people who want to play 20 minute periods (like me) that opportunity. The Custom AI was a great step in the right direction but the game still needs more.

If EA tweaks the AI to make them actually run smart plays (not just all stand around on the powerplay, or in the zone, set up, maybe not skate back to the bench after we enter the zone on a 2-on-1 break) and then give us some nice sliders, they won't have to update anything else for me to feel the game was worth it. If they can use that as their base going forward, i'll be happy to wait for 16 for massive overhauls.
