What's going to drive the next generation forward is openness and honesty. That's the only thing that's going to work; graphics etc mean nothing. Your seeing it now in every industry. The old models of using marketing and fancy advertising are beginning to crumble. You can see that all around us. There is simply so much information and review sites at our disposal nowadays. There is no hiding from the truth. Companies would be wise to learn that the way forward is one of real openness and honesty and transparency. And not just corporate BS talk. We see right through that now.

A great example of this is game developer CD Projekt Red. Completely open and transparent. Their fans would take a bullet for them.

Re: Managing Next-Gen Expectations

I said it prior to the new systems launching....

We ain't gonna see nothing AWE-inspiring for another 2-3 yrs.....

Look at watch dogs. If it can be played on last gen systems, then to me, it isn't NEXT GEN.

Aside from being a bit crisper and brighter.... ZERO DIFFERANCES after that.

Don't even get me started on madden. That shouldn't have even been made.

All I want is sports games to truly become a simulation! Over the years with each new console, the sports games have never been a true simulation! After all of these years with each new more powerful consoles, they still can't make a true simulation sports games! Why?
