Re: Sports Daily: Fixing the Knicks Edition

We have to sit tight until next summer. My stance on Melo hasn't changed, I think it's best for all parties involved if he leaves the Knicks. Then we have Bargs, Amare and Chandler expiring next year plus our 2015 first rounder.

Chandler will probably demand a trade but I don't see us giving up 2015 cap space by acquiring someone for him. He's going to have to suck it up and deal with our crappiness next season.

I want Chandler in Miami. Have now for about 6 years. Love the way he plays.

Do you guys think the Traingle isn't as great as it once was now due to the zone defense being allowed? We saw in 2011 how Dallas's perfect Zone D destroyed the Lakers offense.

Zone defense has nothing to do with it. The 11 Lakers were lazy and overconfident. The 'turn it on, turn it off' mentality was their undoing.
Actually, denying the wings and bumping the cutters is what disrupts the triangle the most.

So an intense man defense with plenty of ball denying would be the best strategy against the triangle?

Do you think Carmelo could be successful in the triangle?

The wing denial will bring the center to the high post as a release and he will look for backdoor passes. But you don't want the ball posted. That is when the defense is most at risk.

Any player can be successful in the triangle as long as they are willing to change their modus operandi. That means cutting hard off the ball, setting screens, and making snap passes.

Or we can hope some team in a "win now" phase will be willing to give up a cheap, young player or draft pick for him.

The roster is rotten to the core, the team culture is abysmal, and they have given up so many picks that they have no way to rebuild the team through the draft. There isn't much hope for Knicks fans unless the team can somehow make something with the few pieces they have on the table and a few smart/lucky choices with cheap C-level free agents.
