Yes I did play MLB the Show 13 online. Yes it still was awful. There was a lot of lag and I averaged out about a .200 average. It wasn't worth the headache.

You also may not remember, but PSN was down perhaps two years ago for three months where you couldn't do anything online. Perhaps instead of taking the time to be a smart ***, you should instead take some time to read and comprehend the points in my post.

Get on a wired connection and the game is extremely playable. Probably 80% or more of my games I can't tell there is any lag.

I can't tell if the people who complain about the net code have played online in MLB 12 or 13, because it is quite good if you put your PS3 in better conditions.
Geez I'm glad you have your PS3 right next to a wire. I don't have the luxury. That shouldn't even be a fix as many games that I do play online with my PS3/4 work well without any lag or rubberbanding. This isn't a Sony problem; this is an SCEA problem. I shouldn't have to run a wire through the wall to the second level just to play a game of baseball online.

First not everyone has great internet service.
Speed...spotty....there are problems.
Second....with the talk of capping bandwith usage and tying it to $$$....I gotta be honest....online franchise would be low on my list of usage items.
Third....unexpected problems....power outages.....storms...etc.
Sandy knocked power out of my area for 10 days. I myself have a whole house generator and was up and running in minutes...but the area was out(including Verizon online) for nearly two weeks. That would suck.

Lastly....the online franchise is missing a key component. Something no gamer should have to do without. Don't make me remind you of what makes my play the TRUE sim experience!

You didn't get the email? MoM didn't make the cut. ..

I agree with everything there, but it is going to be great for some people.

Yes, I'm a little disappointed that offline didnt get all the upgrades. The online doesn't work for me because I like to be able to pick up a few games at my convenience and sim quite a bit. Those things don't really play out well with online.

My friend on the other hand who plays every game and runs with default rosters is excited about it.

They couldn't find a place deep enough in the earth or underwater that I couldn't find them!

Still going to give an online franchise a go....if for nothing more than the expanded stats....improved logic(s) and webpage viewing.
(sounds like great stuff for offline franchise as well! )

Did we get confirmation on player lock and quick counts being available for vs CPU teams?

The hacking with PSN took place in 2011. Better security measure have been put in place. But, there will always be a risk. Since then, banks, departments store, etc. have been hacked as well. It just the nature of the beast. People have been struck by identity theft by not shredding their trash or handing their credit card to the wrong waiter too. It's just the nature of humanity. The point being that hacking does not strike me as a good reason to not enjoy online gaming.

As far a lag is concerned... If you enjoy the offline franchise (i.e. you against the CPU), then playing online against the CPU should not result in any lag. It's the head to head games with poor end connections that resulted in most cases of lag with the latest versions

That's not the point I'm trying to make. The point that I'm trying to get across is that when something like this happens again, who knows how long it will take to get an online based franchise back on if it ever does get back. If I have it saved to my hard drive, it's there and I can load it and save it. If it's on SCEA's side; it's up in neverland and I have to depend on SCEA's servers to make it work. Judging by their consistent problems in getting online features to work, I don't have much faith in them.

Again, I'm glad that online got some love. Hopefully it's not lip service this year when it comes to the lag; for all that SCEA has done with the game and all they can do, online is non-responsive. Unless you live right next to your router at all times...

I understand that is what you are getting at, but I still don't think it is a very valid reason to not enjoy online gaming. As I said, additional security measures are in place. If you are going to base your decisions on worse case scenarios, there are far more probable and more serious contexts that I would consider first...unplug your computer, cancel your credit cards, convert your assets, never drive a car, etc. I mean, if you're going to live on the wild side, might as well risk playing a game online that has a few new features you've been wanting. Just my 2 cents.

As far as lag, read the last part of my previous post.

Is the net code perfect? No.
Can PSN go down? Yes

But you act as if the risk of PSN going down is a lot larger than it is. And assume that the majority of uses experience your's with the online in The Show.

I play about half of my online games on wifi as I can't get an Ethernet cord to key PS3 at my gf's place. Is it a bit laggy? Yes. But not drastically more, if at all, than other games on wifi.

A lot of people do share my experience with the Show online in that it doesn't work well; sometimes at all. I don't care if the net code is perfect or not, but I would like to play a game without having to guess at a pitch before it leaves the pitchers hand.
