I'm glad that the online guys got what they deserved, but with EA releasing games that can't run online all the time, and with so many people depending on the imaginary cloud I see doom written all over this for the future. Maybe I'm being a bit simple... I just want the game to run smooth. SCEA produces a great game, but online MLB the Show is rotten and unplayable. There's no way around that no matter how you try and look at it. I hope they fixed it like they promised in the past, but their track record online is abysmal.
That's right! And stick with your phonographs too. This new-fangled technology is not to be trusted.

I'm glad I'm choosing the Royals for my online franchise. Hearing good things about them this spring training.

Editing draft classes is a big part of how I play franchise as well as correcting what I feel is extreme regression in some cases. Granted this is likely a small subset of players.

There is also the issue of the lack of local saves. If everything is stored server side you may not be able to revert to a previous save. I hope you can control when the franchise saves. Since, say a season ending injury to your favorite player that you use player lock with could be extremely frustrating. Maybe one of the people that saw the mode can comment?

Your second point is what has been worried about since online franchise was announced. And the requirement of PS+ would seem to indicate the mode is online at all times.
I didn't say online would be for everyone. I have mentioned in this thread that it doesn't match up to the way I like to play franchise.

With that being said there are a lot of people that start a franchise and run with it with no edits. Some people play every game. Others sim multiple games or weeks.

Each person has to evaluate if the mode works for them.

The good thing is we are not forced online. If you choose to play offline the mode is still there.

I see a lot of potential here and it will only improve.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise

So essentially, those of us who like to play Franchise with another human in the room have to settle for offline?

And offline has a stripped features list?

If offline and online are the same in terms of features like contract logic, progression, gameplay, etc., and if the only differences between the two are features like managing your team from a website and things like that, then I don't mind. But if online is superior in the other aspects, and if you aren't allowed to co-op online with a friend on the couch, then my friend and I are forced to settle for a lesser version of Franchise (since presumably we can't co-op an online franchise).

I'm all for improving the online franchise portion of the game. I am....but I do understand some of the trepidation of having to depend on online.
First not everyone has great internet service.
Speed...spotty....there are problems.
Second....with the talk of capping bandwith usage and tying it to $$$....I gotta be honest....online franchise would be low on my list of usage items.
Third....unexpected problems....power outages.....storms...etc.
Sandy knocked power out of my area for 10 days. I myself have a whole house generator and was up and running in minutes...but the area was out(including Verizon online) for nearly two weeks. That would suck.

Lastly....the online franchise is missing a key component. Something no gamer should have to do without. Don't make me remind you of what makes my play the TRUE sim experience!

You are not forced to use online franchise, but if you want the improved logic there is no other option. I could live with the lack of editing players, which I probably will in order to check out the new logic, but I still feel the only decision that should have been required by a user who wants to play a single player franchise are the online required features (website management, star tracking, etc)

It may seem selfish to say that, but looking at it from a consumer perspective that's how I see it. I cannot agree with the design decision to have two separate single player franchise modes with different AI logic. Not only is it frustrating if you cannot play online, but if a player played offline franchise in MLB 14, there is an expectation that the game will operate the same for online franchise. Players going into online from offline may not know it has different AI logic and may base the way they play off of the offline franchise AI in MLB 14.

I will say that I plan to use online franchise primarily, at first at least, and have already joined a league. I love the idea in concept, but not the end result. It will improve, but I feel step one is feature parity between online and offline franchise in MLB 15.

Us offliners don't know what we don't know, so you're gonna have to tell us what we don't know.

It's only in offline mode....and the only reason I won't stick with an online franchise yet.
Manage only Mode.
