Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise

The online portion needed to move in this direction....next gen seems to be gravitating to a "cloud" type setup for all games. Alot of the features are going to be great and improve the game immensely.

I think alot of the people that play offline will evaluate the mode and gravitate towards it because it will provide what they were accustomed to before with more options. It won't change the way they played the game and only enhance it.

My only question that I have been thinking about, is do you have to be online at the time of playing a game(vs CPU), and then results uploaded later when online is avalable?

Because if not, any network problems would not allow you to play your franchise. That was one of the big complaints that I have had with MYGM mode in NBA2K.

We are paying for multiplayer now on PS4! There should be absolutely ZERO lag!

Dude what are you talking about? Last year it was called Leagues, and it was online season mode. You could only play 1 season at a time.

I am talking about Season mode as it was in 13--OFFLINE. I never said anything to the contrary, never said online. Season mode offline allows you to play more than one season.

First, until you can do everything in online that you could off some people won't be able to play the game the game the way they used to. For instance since you can't edit players there is no way to keep the league the way you want it. Editing draft classes is a big part of how I play franchise as well as correcting what I feel is extreme regression in some cases. Granted this is likely a small subset of players.

There is also the issue of the lack of local saves. If everything is stored server side you may not be able to revert to a previous save. I hope you can control when the franchise saves. Since, say a season ending injury to your favorite player that you use player lock with could be extremely frustrating. Maybe one of the people that saw the mode can comment?

Your second point is what has been worried about since online franchise was announced. And the requirement of PS+ would seem to indicate the mode is online at all times.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise

I wonder how many people will praise online features when another group hacks PSOnline and takes it down for another three months.

I'm glad that the online guys got what they deserved, but with EA releasing games that can't run online all the time, and with so many people depending on the imaginary cloud I see doom written all over this for the future. Maybe I'm being a bit simple... I just want the game to run smooth. SCEA produces a great game, but online MLB the Show is rotten and unplayable. There's no way around that no matter how you try and look at it. I hope they fixed it like they promised in the past, but their track record online is abysmal.

I can't believe how many times I post this.

Get on a wired connection and the game is extremely playable. Probably 80% or more of my games I can't tell there is any lag.

I can't tell if the people who complain about the net code have played online in MLB 12 or 13, because it is quite good if you put your PS3 in better conditions.

Sadly PSN was down for an extended period of time due to hacking. Plus many games are hacked in consoles.
