Re: MLB 14 The Show Blog - Online Franchise

I for one am ecstatic about having an Online Franchise option with the ability to have CPU controlled teams. Why? Because I have 3 real good buds where we share our franchise stories/going ons/etc with each other daily. It'll now be fun for all 4 of us to choose our team, and know we will only have a handful of user games against each other the entire season and play out our Franchise as one group.

Also, if someone at SCEA can confirm that Online Franchise saves can carry over year after year, that'll just be icing on the cake.

But by making the online franchise an offline one by only having human controlled team, I get all the features and make the other one completely useless.

By pitching to us that there may be more features for one group of players over the other can result in a PR nightmare. You see it creeping up in these discussions from many people. If they were able to focus on one set of coding, they could add more features with that time than using their time developing the same features twice. From other threads, it sounds like they may be moving in that direction. That could have been the difference between an April and a May release date, the extra time needed to implement the same features twice.
I disagree...
Not at all.
The mode was not created or developed with the single player in mind....but the fact that they had the forethought to allow just one user to start the league.....maybe hope for guys to join.....just reap the benefits ...etc.
Offline still has some things that online doesn't....it's close but not exactly the same....one being manage only mode...another could be saved games.

I seriously doubt that the online/offline franchise mode is what "held up" this game in terms of release.
The enormity of a new game "held up" the release...and I'm guessing stadiums were the largest contributing factor.

It has already been explained that while they share a lot it was not a simple copy and paste type of situation. There is language differences between the two. Considering the online portion is newer it was probably an easier transition to get those items included. To me it sounds like it was more design obstacles as apposed to design direction of just not including it.

Outlast on PS4 pays for that subscription flat out. In fact, I'm picking my renewal up for $34.99 today because I have $15 in Reward Zone certs at Best Buy.
