Now, I have nothing to choose from. My 3 major sports I play from the company I liked the gameplay most from has no options. Ugh. Now what?
I see a Playstation in your future.

Games cost too much to make these days, if you can't be the best at making a particular sports game its better not to make it at all financially speaking. Because you're just not going to get the return on your investment. Its just matter of time before NBA Live folds. Sports gaming is in the worst shape in history and I don't see a return to the good old days when we had 2-3 different games to choose from in any given sport. I just hope this means they are investing in a NFL game because anything the NFL touches is gold in the US.

I think a lot of you guys are overacting. I personally believe this is a good thing. We are seeing the reemergence of the NFL 2K franchise right before our eyes. MLB 2K was not a very good game compared to The Show. But it had good features, like the commentary & MLB Today. But over all when compared to MLB The Show, it was a complete joke.

Doesn't mean that we will never see it again. I believe they will take a few years off to rebuild the franchise from the ground up to be competitive with the show and possibly surpass it in the long run. But that will be a tall task. I think when MLB The Show come out for PS4 it will be an industry changing game.

But as far as NFL 2K is concerned, I believe they will focus their attention on obtaining the NFL License now. By cancelling the MLB game they free up capitol to use for an NFL game. I truly believe that 2K will have a chance to make a NFL game this time around. With the success of the NBA 2K franchise over the years and the new fans it has brought to the game, the NFL would benefit in much the same way. There are still thousands of gamers who refuse to buy Madden due to it's lack of steady improvements. With a new game on the market it will re-energize peoples interest in NFL Video Games and thus generate revenue.

It just makes good business sense to allow 2K to make an NFL game......

Damn, another sad day in sports video game history. We really are headed down the path of extinction. Never thought as a kid that sports games could become so real looking, but the options would get shorter and shorter every year. *Sigh*

Capitol was never the problem between 2K and the NFL.
The NFL was mighty ticked-off when 2K sold 2K4 for $19.99. They felt it undervalued their brand.
So when they decided to go the exclusive route, they went to EA first - who had no problems handing over a truck load of cash to be the only game in town.
And that's how it's going to be for good.

There is probably a greater chance of 2K developing another baseball and hockey game before they get the NFL license again.

As far as MLB2K is concerned, while it clearly wasn't as polished as The Show, it was still a quality baseball game.
From the analog pitching, to presentation, commentary, MLB Today, Hitters Eye,... it did a lot of things very, very well.

I for one will miss this series greatly. I think if VC was given the reigns 2 or 3 years earlier we'd be waiting on the release of 2K14.
Sadly, the series changed hands one too many times, and during that process, there were too many mistakes made.

I'm holding out hope that we'll see the return of 2K baseball down the road.

This happens in business all the time, its called divesting. Basically 2K is getting rid of something they don't do well in order to save money and focus on what they do well which is NBA and hopefully a football game, either it be college or NFL game.
