NBA 2K14 Impressions (PS4/Xbox One)

Just got a ps4 a couple days ago. NBA 2k14 was one of the games I got with it. Enjoying the upgrade in graphics. Everything is smooth. This game is really buggy though. Might have been better off waiting a year until they iron some things out. But overall this is a very good game. Had the 360 version which was rock solid and really polished compared to this though. This game is a step forward in a lot of ways but just a lot of glitches. I don't care about the modes and options so much. I'm basically a gameplay person. Some animations don't sync up fluidly. too many lob passes. intense D isn't as impactful. Really difficult to get steals. Rebounding seems off at times. Some blocks just don't seem to flow well with the game. There are graphical hiccups here and there. uniforms glitching out. Just a lot of nuisance stuff. But overall great game. Definately a nice sized upgrade especially graphically.

Played my first game online as well.. Was very smooth. For some reason blake griffin started intentionally fouling with 5 minutes left in the 3rtd quarter though. had to call a TO to stop him from doing that. threw me for a loop and my opponent went on a big run after that. lost the game by 1 point.

Also played a legend game and the 80's boston garden was unplayable in because of the lighting.

Stuff like that just tells me this game is a year away and was rushed to market a bit and wasn't fully complete.

Definately liking some of the new menus and features too. It seems like 2k built this from the ground up in a lot of ways.

Having purchased NBA 2K14 Current and Next-Gen and have been a 2k customer since Dreamcast, I feel I can give insight on how the 2 matchup.

CURRENT-GEN
W/ CG 2k has had some year be better than others, 2K9 was 1 of my fav no issue out of the box, a whole year no complaints. Starting wit 2k10 they issue being 2 emerge.

2K14- CG was a good improvement, PLAYERS SIZED down (Not looking like BODYBUILDERS), and lots of new animations (GRANITE MOST OF 'EM ARE CANNED ANIMATIONS). Which is what my issues is w/ CG

2 much sliding UNDER,BESIDE,OR RIDING THE BACK of the offensive player and he'll miss even SUPERSTARS (KOBE, LEBRON, DURANT, etc...) No matter whats your gameplan is the results turn out the same. PLAY 1 GAME YOU'VE PLAYED 20.

2K14-CG has only made marginal improvements since 2K12 so This year it feels like something you played before.

11/15/2013 1:30a.m. I'm Home w/ my PS4 downloading 2K14 on the hard drive. Once completed I go 2 QUICK GAME. CLIPPERS Vs. NEW YORK and TIP-OFF

Soon as I win the tip WTF is wrong w/ CARMELO ANTHONY his body looks like a dope fiend, CHRIS PAUL another dope fiend. I QUIT GAME 2 edit players 2 see WTF have I purchased. KEMBA WALKER and lots of dark skin players 4 dat matter look charcoal, 2 sweaty (Construction Workers)
BODIES PROPORTIONED terrible GLEN DAVIS (THE WORST) no excuse 4 dat. And the size of some players HEAD is ridiculous PLUMLEE 4 the NETS, C.ZELLER 4 the BOBCATS and MORE check em out you a see what I'm saying.

This game is a #GLITCHFEST, the mesh jersey GLITCH 100% of the time not a min goes by you want catch a GLITCH. I have't seen 2K #GLITCH dis bad ever... well maybe 2K8 dat was 6 years ago, but dats were 2K find themselves at right now.

ARMS, HANDS, the BALL all GLITCH
HANDS goin threw the BALL, the BALL GLITCHES thew LEGS, BALL threw the BACKBOARD. SAme old same old. Block a shot the BALL still makes it 2 the rim as if you did noth'n. LARRY SANDERS and OMEKA OKAFOR will drop 20 points on you on HOF shooting better than 70%

Most would say well dats not important, but what dat means is (THEY CUT ELIMINATED CETAIN THINGS OUT IN ORDER 2 MEET A DEADLINE, so CUSTOMIZATION and MODES were the SACRIFICE) Basically given us a #GLITCHFEST BETA 4 $60 a whop

Put a LEG SLEEVE on and watch his skin #GLITCH threw, Put the LEG CALF SLEEVE on and watch the #GLITCHES - Double RUBBER BAND there's only ONE. the WRIST WRAP don't think about it GLITCHES from the edit screen

the MESH jerseys and SHORTS disaster MOVE 2 MUCH like back on 2K7-2K8 trying 2 hard 2 display the movement and overdone it dats why the game is so BUGGY and GLITCHES every possession.

The LIGHTING OVERDONE also looks foggy at times like they started allowing fans to SMOKE while attending a game NO COURT UPDATES YET, 15 days til CHRISTMAS NO CHRISTMAS jerseys yet.

The bench looks WORST than CG, NO WARM-UPS allowed on the bench from the TIP everyone's in shorts ANOTHER REASON I SAY THIS GAME WAS RUSHED

All dat dribble feel talk B.S. didn't feel dat different. You dont Dribble as wild or canned as CG but its not a game changer, you still have a hard time staying in front of defenders. INTENSE D Doesn't work as good as it did on CG.

POST IS SLOW, REBOUNDING HESITANT NOT DAT RESPONSIVE AT TIMES. BLOCKED shots UNREALISTIC at TIMES

The JUMP shot is the biggest + VERY RESPONSIVE smooth NITE and DAY compared 2 CG, But replays can reveal Imperfections you didn't think was there
Alot more cleaner int he POST not near as many CANNED ANIMATIONS you can go from the 3 point line strait 2 the rack w/ no problem the flush it. PLAYERS don't slide UNDER, OR RIDE UR BACK like CG.

So Basically you a find yourself saying MAN i like Next-Gen but w/ the MODE and CUSTOMIZATION SACRIFICE lack of SUPPORT UPDATES, BUGGS, GLITCHES, NO SAVING 2 UR OWN HARD DRIVE DICTATORSHIP they forced on us were better off on CG. BUT

CG has ran its course and fells like a rendition rather than a new game so it can feel STALE OLD PAST DUE 4 a real UPGRADE and while NG does feel like a NEW GAME, it doesn't fit the bill of a UPGRADE
BUGGS,BUGGS,BUGGS,,,,GLITCHES,GLITCHES....PREVENT a word UPGRADE when you DOWNGRADED MODES AND CUSTOMIZATION force there Version of what the NBA is 2 THEM on US and say "UPGRADE" NEXT-GEN" NONSENSE

Which is hard 4 me 2 say cuz 2k is the ONLY GAME I purchase since EA forgot how 2 make a FOOTBALL GAME (LAST MADDEN BOUGHT 2010) BUT DEVS will always find a way 2 ruin the fans experience.(I THINK DATS THERE INTENT CUZ THE THING THEY DO MAKE NO SENSE AT TIMES)

Played this game for the first time last night. Played 5 head-to-head Quick Games with a friend on Hall-of-Fame default settings.

Pros:
-Graphics are simply amazing- the best graphics of any next-gen game especially in the Beluba cam. If you are still playing on 2K camera on next-gen NBA 2K, you are doing your self a disservice!

-Eco-Motion is the truth! Love how the players show emotion of their faces, get hyped after big shots, and they don't over do it.

-In-game presentation is amazing, love the time-out huddles, half-time and post game interviews, commentary, player emotion, and the different camera angles through out the game, my favorite is the shot from behind the crowd.

-Animations: Love the little animations, like the screen setter animations, the different rebounding animations, etc.

-Foot-planting is much better.

Cons:
-Too many blocked jump shots! Some players jump shot releases are way to slow! Lebron was even getting his shot blocked!

- Too many steals in the paint! Attempting to steal/rip the ball from a player in the paint has a high success rate. Fouls should be called way more often.

- Jump shot releases not smooth and too slow: If I am off-balanced I should shoot an off balance shot, they shouldn't make the player go into his normal shooting animation when shooting off-balanced, this allows the defense to recover and get a blocked shot.


Overall really good game-play but there is a lot of room for improvements especially off-the court. Can't wait to go back over his place and play some more tonight. As for getting the game myself, unless a miracle happens and someone buys me an XboxONE for Christmas Ill be waiting for next year's edition.

The CPU's "super rebounding" is driving me nuts. Playing with my Pacers and Hibbert/West get destroyed on the glass almost every game.

The CPU is way too strong on the glass at both ends IMO.
