Re: Madden NFL 25 Impressions (PS4)

The game is much smoother it feels almost lifelike. The graphics are much better.

The biggest improvements are to the defense, but that is only because on ps3/360 the defense was SO BAD. There are still money plays out there and smart routed outs and curls can still burn you or your opponent. The Smash play is really tough to stop as well. The QB Wrap isn't as overpowering but they got it in Shotgun spread and normal and it works pretty well there. So it can be easy to score on a bad opponent and if you have trouble stopping these plays (like me sometimes) it can still get frustrating in online ranked play. Also some outside running plays like the Outside Zone from the Baltimore playbook don't get an appropriate response from the D.

On offense it is obviously a little more challenging and it feels more realistic. Im still adjusting to having a sprint button again but I like the tru-step and everything involved with the running game. The offensive line is competent

Zone coverage is tighter but the CPU players have an unreal range they can cover when making a play on balls that in RL would be out of their reach.
I totally agree with those points about the passing game. The NFL is a passing league and the passing game and the pass rush should be finely tuned for next years game.

Re: Madden NFL 25 Impressions (PS4)

I have a noticed a pattern here. Majority of the people that are having issues with the game are playing on All Madden and have changed sliders & penalty settings. On default All Pro I'm not seeing 99% of the stuff people are seeing and having issues with in this game.

So the past few days I tinkered around. Played on All Madden, the AI for the User and CPU is completely messed up. The whole flow of the game is just totally off.

- Played on slow speed on all difficulties, the CPU AI just becomes completely dumb on slow speed. They can't move the ball at all, their ball carriers don't attempt any special moves what so ever.

- Moved the penalties to 60. AI became dumb as well.

- Moved the sliders to 60 and to 40, AI became dumb both times.

So my conclusion, normal speed, default All Pro is the way to go. I can hit wide WRs in stride. I can lead the ball to where ever I want on the field. Don't see a lot of interceptions. I can truck defenders when I want. I can stiff arm defenders when I want. I can juke when I want. Don't have problems breaking tackles. Don't have problems making tackles in the open field in 1 on 1 situations.

To me the problem is the sliders, penalties, game speed and All Madden difficulty. Change any slider, penalty setting, game speed setting or play on All Madden you will just end up with a ton of issues to the point it looks like you playing last gen Madden with all the old legacy issues.

Ill check this out man, on previous Gen I would just destroy the CPU on All-Pro. It's funny you bring up the Juke Moves and Stiff Arm, I can truck some defenders but I yet to successfully stiff arm nor juke anyone and I am using Darren Sproles... I am also playing on Slow so maybe I will try a game on All Pro and see what happens.

I agree with you!!

What is your Opinion about player threshold? Would lowering that slider to 15 be a bad idea?

And do you think setting Penalty Sliders:

offsides and false starts to 100

Offensive holding to 70

Facemask to 60

Would that screw-up the gameplay?

And do you suggest to leave Injury and Fatigue at Default {50}?

Thanks for your Help.

Kudos, GMSS!

This is also my take on the last few iterations of last gen as well...

A few years back, the devs (I believe it was Ian Cummings) said that the game was tuned to play versus the CPU on All Pro and All Madden is tuned for head to head...

Trying to beat a "sim experience" out of a level that was intended for a "hyperbolic" version of football intended for every use EXCEPT playing the CPU isn't going to turn out as desired...

At "default" All Madden means that the USER sliders need to be at 25 or below, while the CPU's are set at 75 and above...

By "borking" your players attributes while "jacking" the CPU's there's not a lot of "mathematical probability" to create balanced (sim style) gameplay...

Many sets don't follow the above "slider math", so they're sort of a AP interpretation of AM level, which seems to bring out the worst of both in the Madden "engine", IMHO...

There's only so much "customization" that this game's engine will allow / accept before going bonkers...

I feel I wasted a LOT of time this year trying to beat a sim out of both AM (M25) and Heisman (NCAA 14), only to realize that it's not really possible, for my taste...

I make that mistake every few years and always end up back at the level that starts "equal" and is much more accepting of customization as a result...

IMHO, of course!

Re: Madden NFL 25 Impressions (PS4)

I plan on playing as the Starting quarterback for all 32 NFL teams.

What happens if the Starting quarterback gets Injured, Can you thrn control the backup QB?
