So are your cpu teammates still dumb? Do they still just stand around and make terrible runs? I heard they made the ai smarter which means what your teammates become more stupid...

AI teammates are much better than in old gen. At least in standard games. I have no idea about player career.

Re: FIFA Soccer 14 Next-Gen (PS4) Impressions

I got this a couple of days ago and I've been playing it quite a bit. Solid game, but man am I struggling to score. I'm only playing on professional, but seeing that some of you are having a go on World Class and Legendary gives me hope that I'll improve. Good looks at the goal are rare for me, and when I do get them I choke half the time and send it wide. This is a big change of pace from the last Fifa that I played a lot. I haven't tried any online at all, but I like what I'm seeing offline.

Re: FIFA Soccer 14 Next-Gen (PS4) Impressions

Did the weekly challenge games make it to next gen?

Also does the CPU attack better and by that I mean on CG the CPU won't shoot but when they do it goes in. So the human player takes 15 shots and 1 or 2 go in and the CPU takes 1 or 2 and scores 1 or 2. I want the CPU to shoot and miss more. Like reality.

Does the CPU still perform miracle clearances? Example, racing toward their own end line they bicycle kick the ball back to the middle of the pitch right to the feet of a CPU player who immediately starts the counter attack. That nonsense happens frequently in CG.

Are the CPU keepers Lev Yashin no matter whether it's Plymouth argyle or Chelsea you are playing against?

Is offsides called so infuriatingly strict as CG? CG it's just ruthless to the point of annoyance.

Does the difficulty change in a way different to all fifa's in the past? By that I mean on amateur your team is brilliant and moves stunningly gracefully and the CPU is stupid and slow. Then as you move up difficulty levels the CPU becomes amazingly smart and quick to every ball while your team becomes brain dead and feels like the speed and accuracy of the controller input changes for the worse. CG fifa has the worst difficulty programming of any sports game in my opinion.

I have read the quality of everything changes when you move away from the marquis teams. So if you run Le Havre vs sm Caen does it feel like CG?

To answer your questions (by paragraph):

-Yes

-IMO this hasn't changed. I had a game in my Portsmouth CM yesterday where I beat Rochdale 2-1 in extra time. I was 21/15 in shooting and the CPU was 6/2 if I remember correctly. They don't shoot more, they do miss some, and they do score when they want to.

-This one is a little up in the air for me. I'll have some games where the CPU defends well yet the keeper is on vacation and everything goes in. Then I'll have games where the keeper is blocking well taken shots with his eyes closed.

-Offsides hasn't changed. EA has already stated that the engine will always make every offside call, even the ones that are offsides by millimeters.

-This is definitely still the same. While the added animations make the game play better you have to remember that this is the same game, just with those added animations. EA's method of increasing difficulty is still to make your players dumber and slower. Also, I still believe that on WC and up, even with the accel and speed sliders the same, the CPU still gets off the mark quicker. I picked up Adam Campbell from Newcastle who has accel and speed in the 80's. How he's getting beat to 50/50 balls and getting closed down on by League 2 defenders, when he has more than a few steps on them from a well placed through ball, is a mystery to me.

-I can't speak to this because I almost never play with the marquis teams. I will say that for the most part unless the gap in quality between two teams is sufficiently large, say 5* vs. 2*, there isn't a very noticeable difference in quality between less well known teams.

Re: FIFA Soccer 14 Next-Gen (PS4) Impressions

Thanks very much Nightmare.

An xbox one is appearing in my home the 25th so this is definitely one of the games I am getting. Just looking for a heads up on the main things I don't like about CG.

Re: FIFA Soccer 14 Next-Gen (PS4) Impressions

No problem. One thing that has changed between the two versions that I really like is that there is less (not none, but considerably less) of the BS tackles that the computer would commit, where you would beat them one way and they would shift their position (often times with their feet OFF OF THE GROUND!) and toe poke the ball away. The added animations make it so that for the most part their feet have to be on the ground for them to move...for the most part, lol.

Re: FIFA Soccer 14 Next-Gen (PS4) Impressions

@All -

I'm still on the fence on whether or not to take the wrapping off of FIFA 14. LOL! I'm wondering if any fellow PS4 brethren purchased PES 2014 on ps3 before jumping on board to PS4...How does the gameplay compare (obviously, the ps4 should get the nod on graphics I assume) between the two and which of them is more 'sim' and less 'scripted'...I'm on the fence whether or not to get a ps3 (great deals at the moment) for pes 2014 (and apf 2k8 - need my football fix as well beyond madden 25)...OR should I just wait till next gen pes 2014 for my soccer fix.

Thoughts? Cheers fellas!
